UCLA is obviously a much better university than NAU. Not in same league.
I don’t see why the Youngs + Aaron would not go to UCLA.
Who is coaching NAU now?
1) If academics is key, they'd go to Stanford (if they could get in).
2) Last time I checked, UCLA is NOT at altitude. Do you know how much that's worth? It's like free PEDs. Plus many kids do NOT want to go to school in their hometown.
I think people are overthinking this, they are almost certainly gonna end up at NAU. Mike Smith is maybe the best coach in the country, its at altitude, their brother just ran 13:11 at age 19, and their other star teammate is going there as well.
If Brosnan gets them to go to UCLA, Ill have to concede that he is the greatest coach/recruiter of all time, because wtf.
Too bad UCLA won't be in the PAC12 much longer. Would have loved to see how the UCLA team compete under his leadership against the Powells' UW teams and Schumacher's at Oregon.
Will be fun to see what teams with actual scholarship funding for XC (Oregon and Washington) will do against a near walk on program at UCLA.
Why is it whenever someone is successful the conversation is always started with Don't like the person? What do you not like about Sean the fact that he creates champions, or did he strike a nerve with you about the whole 4:20 mile not being fast. Let me guess your almost 4:20 mile is the conversation starter for you.
No, not every conversation starts with "Don't like the person" when someone is successful. As an example, Schumacher gets all kinds of garbage on here, but it's not because people don't like him or think he's a jerk. They don't like the fact his team doesn't race much or he has a drug cheat on his team or he avoids the media or other reasons. Never because they don't like him, because guess what, he's a nice guy.
It's a total deflection to say people don't like Brosnan because they're jealous or because he's successful. So many people say they don't like him because he's an a-hole.
If you spend your time not liking someone you don't personally know, then yes it is jealousy or some other projection of your own shortcoming.

Brosnan is not going to Stanford so that’s irrelevant.
I am simply stating that BECAUSE UCLA is a good school (not Stanford good of course) and NAU is not good, it could be an added benefit.
What about people in the bottom half of NP’s varsity like Cantu and Martinez? UCLA would be a good fit for them if Sahlmans and Youngs are at NAU. It would be hard for Cantu / Martinez to make the top 7 for NAU.

Maybe many do know him.
Also, liking or disliking someone is an opinion. I don't know Trump and I don't like him. I've heard enough interviews, seen the way he acts and treats people to have an opinion that I don't like him. Does everyone who doesn't know Trump personally and doesn't like him have a shortcoming or are jealous of him?

I was just referring to the Young twins. I imagine UCLA will be appealing for some of the non Young/Sahlmans.
So much focus on Brosnan's salary (and pension!), which is a weird take.
I'm sure he had some minimum in mind, but this job is just a stepping stone for him. Is he going into this thinking he'll be a UCLA assistant coach for 20 years? No. The only reason for him to leave NP is that he eventually wants to be a head coach somewhere, so that he can control the program, control the scholarships, and make 2x--4x the salary.
But he has to be successful first and I don't see that happening. He also would have to want all of the additional work that comes with being a head coach.
