So some people thought that Hinsdale Central would win, but at this point it’s not looking to be likely anymore. Plainfield South is better than HC through 4 even with Watcke healthy. Hinsdale Central needs him back, and more importantly, a number 5 if Hinsdale Central even wants to challenge them. York boys team have some depth through 7. 5 seniors and 2 sophomores. One of their seniors, Bryk, DNFed. Next year there is a possibility of only 1 York guy running varsity that is a senior. Can they win finally win state again in 2024? We shall see.
Ok Should we just say “give the state title to Plainfield South now”?
or can you imagine any team beating them?
they pretty much have a solid 1-5 at this point. Doesn’t even surprise me that they’re nationally ranked
Couple years ago Sandburg had the “best team” and lost. Got out slow and couldn’t get to the front. They returned the whole team practically so it was kind of okay but anything can happen on the day.
On paper. You can't tell how much his presence in the race would've given his mates more confidence.
More like, his absence forced his teammates to step up and run out of their minds, and try not to use his absence as excuse for not ending up doing well
2014. They were the favorites going in from what I remember. Not overwhelmingly the favorites but I thought they had the best team for sure.
Plainfield south boys will be overwhelmingly the favorites until Watcke is healthy and Hinsdale Central finds a #5. There’s a reason why they are struggling to find one. They only returned 4 guys from last year’s state meet.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Anything can happen at Detweiller.
York - Returns a 10:18, 10:27, and 10:39. Return zero under 15mins and 3 under 16. Aidan Hill will be likely collecting an all-state spot, but he can't carry them alone. Solid top 4 (more like 3), then it drops off a cliff. Not this year.

I was interested in the results of the Hinsdale-Lyons Township meet yesterday only to find out neither team ran anyone except JV and FS. I guess dual meets are now simply for participation and there's no competitive aspect anymore. Obviously both coaches colluded to not run their best team.

For Christian Brothers Academy NJ (team that won NXN in 2011 and could possibly be the #2 team in the nation this year), dual meets are a big deal. They won over 350 dual meets in a row

They used to be a big deal in Illinois too. The meets figured into the conference championship determination.
Your rankings are messed. Neuqua and Plainfield North ran at Griak and took 5th and 6th, NV didn't run Culver and PN didn't run Palatine. Neither did DGN or WWS. And LT ran at Culver and took a solid second behind Mason OH, the 5th ranked team in NXNMW.

I didn’t do these rankings
I just have to say, Barrington has their scoring lineup back next year so they could be in contention next year. Pretty much all of the top teams except for Barrington have many seniors in their scoring lineup
