To me, "rags to riches" is the wrong narrative to try to force onto Keira D'Mato.
Rather, her story is one that perhaps ought to be most appealing to an ideal prototypical Letsrun member: someone likely to be educated, having their own full-time career and life (I do say "ideal" member) but running because they're passionate about running.
Here is someone who didn't "need" running as a career -- she was already well onto her own life story as in a two-income, two kid, suburban wife, but she recommitted to the sport, reorganized her life, paid her own way and has made it to truly elite status even though she is bumping into her later 30s. She does what Letsrun posters aspire to do, only better.
She is a suburban, 21-century running hero.
