You conveniently left out the part where companies can take the test costs from employees. In essence, they force employees who might already be working minimum wage jobs to pay for nonsense.
Again, the government is not sticking you with medications. You can find a new job or you can swallow the costs of a test. The rest of us have a right to a safe workplace. If you cannot afford the tests then you should find a different, better job because minimum wage jobs are meant to be starter jobs anyway, right?
Most of the vaccination opposition falls into the following categories:
1. Purely partisan. "Libs can't tell me what to do, so there."
2. Deranged. "The media/hospitals/government made up the COVID numbers! The government is not actually issuing vaccinations; they are implanting chips, mind control devices, or other unknown technologies for nefarious purposes!"
3. Irrational fear. "Even though the overwhelming majority of evidence and experts say the vaccine is safe, including my FAVORITE PRESIDENT, I have found an internet story that says it is not."
4. Selfish fear. "I am afraid of getting unpleasant but minor side effects and would rather risk spreading a deadly disease."
5. Faith-based. "I am not allowed to take medicine because Jesus hated healing people."
There are no good reasons for being against vaccinations. They are safe. The best medical experts in the world say so. Most people I know are vaccinated and they're all totally fine. (Several people I know who got COVID, however, are not.) The vast majority of the population has been getting vaccinated for various diseases for almost 200 years and the COVID vaccines are the most widely-analyzed of all of them at this point. There is plenty of historical precedent for imposing vaccine requirements and it is just a fact that this will save lives and reduced the spread of COVID, whereas the alternative is prolonging the pandemic indefinitely.
The reality is that tens of thousands of people have been dying because of they are unvaccinated and the unvaccinated are helping other variants spread as well. Our hospital systems are being stretched to capacity and that is having ripple effects on all other types of healthcare. People would rather continue to put up with this needless death and illness than "risk" the imaginary scenario of being victims of a dystopian Big Government experiment gone horribly wrong. We're all in this pandemic together and it is time for the vaccine hesitant to do their civic duty like the rest of us and stop being whiny, irrational babies.
