My guess is they have to verify them all before they can rank them and notify anyone, no matter how secure any given person's buffer seems.
This is probably it. My time is verified now too.
Random, Possibly Uninteresting Aside: For my race I ran 2:5x:52.4 for my unofficial time on a 3rd party side. I didn't know whether to submit at 52 or 53 (as Letsrun always notes you round up for road times). I consider my time to be 53, but I went with 52 because the official results I could find online had me listed as such on the race results website. Couldn't really argue with that. The BAA verified my time at 53, however. Hope I don't miss out by 1 second, now.
That's a good thought - went to check today and my time was also verified. Registered on Monday and the qualification was Chicago so it should be fairly straightforward as a WMM race.
And yeah there are so many subtleties they don't really clarify - it asked what place you were. Not clear if overall or by gender so I left it blank. I don't think that part mattered.
Getting canned by 1s would be a pain. However it would be rounded up to 53 in your case. All times are rounded up, plus BQ times are always xx:00 never xx:00:01 etc.
