Do you really need to "trouble" the top ten if you trounce them in the Olympics and win one of only three coveted medals?
It’s more about the fourth in New York. Second and third then are not in this conversation but ran away from Molly late in NY. Consistency over two events.
Gets another chance against 4 of my top ten in Boston in a few weeks. Finishes ahead of any of them and top ten beckons for Molly.

Time out: Top 4 in two WMM is not consistent?
Would normally agree but all the majors last fall were watered down and Molly had a chance for second. Different in Boston coming up, fourth would be outstanding
Rounding out my top 20 is Ababel Yeshaneh, third in New York last year in 2.22.52. PB of 2.20.51 when chasing Brigid in Chicago in 2019 when the WR was broken. Was at halfway that day in 68.22, already 1.23 behind
Listing a few honourable mentions who a case could be argued for to unseat some of these 20: Helalia Johannes, Helen Bekele Tola, Tigist Girma, Edna Kiplagat, Maurine Chepkemoi, Worknesh Degefa [if she comes back], Haven Hailu, Gelete Burka, and Azmera Abreha. That doesn't even include the women 5th to 8th at the Olympics or any Americans to join Molly.
17th man is Shifera Tamru, down from 14 because his lack of participation this year while 3 ranked below him improved their records. Here is my profile from my ranking thread more than a year ago:
16th man is my surprise of the twenty: Shifera Tamru. Why? One of only two to break 2.05.30 twice during these last ten months on courses eligible for records [Legese the other]. More in a minute.
Fifth in Dubai in 2.05.18, second in Daegu in 2.06.21, won JTBC Seoul in 2.05.29. Ranked 44 with no d.o.b. on his IAAF profile, but only his second year of marathoning. Like Tigist, like to see them test themselves in a major.

Haven Hailu gets her chance tomorrow in Rotterdam to make her claim.
29. Suguru Osako, fourth in Tokyo to book the last spot in his home Olympics in NR of 2.05.29.
30 is Kenneth Kipkemoi, not seen since Boston last year when third in 2.08.07. Won Rotterdam in 2018 in his PB of 2.05.44 and followed it up with fourth in Chicago 13 sec slower.
Coming back from 2 year suspension. Can’t win here, can he?
Milan results bring 3 changes among the men: 28, 29, and 30 are replaces with third, fourth, and fifth from last Sunday. Majors in the second half of the year will be great chances for Deksisa, Osako, and Kenneth Kipkemoi to work their way back in.
Realised that I didn’t have Kaan Obzilen in my 30 so I have taken Seifu Tura out and inserted Obzilen at 29.
After Boston in a week, I will update my men’s top 30 that I left alone while concentrating on getting the other gender in the right order.

Doing the preliminary research: aaargh, this is so hard. 14 don’t fit into a top ten. First three in London last year were ranked by me 9,8, and 10 while the next 3 that day were my 4,5,and 6 in the World. Do you swap them as a group? I could be here all night then Boston could rearrange it all again

Swap Helalia out with Vivian Kiplagat coming in.
Interested to see how Etagegne Woldu fares on a tougher course like Boston. Was second in Valencia last December

Boston results mean this 20 gets a shift around. Mary Wacera is an obvious addition. Edna back in.

How high do I place her now? Definitely top ten, but still the lower half.
With the IAAF now admitting their mistake after checking with the organisers, Reuben gets his rightful 15th place here and Bedan, Marius, and Shifera drop to 16, 17, and 18. All is well in my world again.
At 19 is runner-up at Chicago last year, Dejene Debela. Was second late in 2018 in Abu Dhabi on a short course. Had won in Xiamen the previous two years before fifth there this year.
Could be among the top 3 in Hamburg this Sunday now with Adola out. Has had an ordinary last two years. Eighth in Boston last year.

Maureen running Enschede tomorrow. We may see a CR?
