Looking at some entries. It looks like Trapp (St. X) is entered to race at Mason. But none of the other varsity St. X guys? Interesting. I wonder if this was an intentional plan, or if Trapp has some sort of conflict with their schedule and needs to get a race in here.
Mason is only this good because they are the biggest high school in Ohio with an enrollment of more than twice that of Westerville North. If you combine the best runners from all the Westerville high schools or all of the Dublin high schools, they would smoke Mason and it wouldn't even be close.

You sorta sound like a whiner, there, sparky.
What’s your suggestion to level the playing field since you seem think it’s so unfair?

Same old argument from smaller schools yet they forget that there are plenty of vary large schools who don't make it to state or even regionals! It's disrespectful to the coaches and the culture that they have created. The larger school theory would mean that China and India should be winning all the Olympics because they have so many more people.

Or not. Huge hypothetical here.
Has Westerville South or Central ever really fielded a competitive team? And Westerville North for that matter . . . they are quite relevant this year, but I was jogging my memory and trying to recall when the last time Westerville North even had a full team represented at the state meet (if ever?).
Putting all of the Dublin schools together? Perhaps, but again, purely hypotheticals.

Side question that I have been wanting to ask the board for some time and it seems fitting to ask here:
Back in the day (early 90s), Dublin only had one high school, the one that the stud J. J. White represented. Now there are three Dublin high schools: Coughman, Scioto, and Jerry. Which one of these was the original Dublin High?

I just did some super stellar Wikipedia research to answer my own question: the original Dublin HS then became Coffman, state title winners in 2011. Dublin Jerry is the newest of the three Dublin HS.

You're right that North wouldn't be picking up that much from Central or South this year. But Donovan Johnson from Westerville Central is a sub 16 runner. That is all they would need to have 3 sub 16 runners and 2 runners that are threatening sub 16. It would really improve their 5th runner's position.

This is a very fair point. 2000 more kids at Mason than these other schools. They also have an XC roster 3 times as big as most.

You don't want to play this game with Dublin nearby. Or Worthington.

Exactly. A consolidated Worthington or Dublin would smoke Mason. Probably better than Westerville too
It's in rules 7/8 grade cannot train with high school team. We try to keep our girls JH practice very separate from the HS practice.
Buttttt..Is it common practice that junior high athletes train with high school kids daily (getting instruction from high school coach) anyways? Or is D-3 OH that oblivious they attribute their success to junior high runners training high school level starting at middle school.....
The Ottawa Hills boys cross country team is taking aim at another superb season after matching the program’s all-time best finish at state meet last ...

Why don't you go back over the results from, let's say the last 10 years. Aggregate the scores of those schools by consolidating them, and report back your findings and how often those districts "smoked" Mason.
In order to run that much he does not go to school. What a dedicated runner!
Glad that he’s tanking his studies for a running career that won’t go anywhere because he trains like a college kid and still can’t get top 5 in the region
