Hey folks, I just want to preface this by saying I enjoy reading this thread and I post occasionally even though I am not qualified age wise. But I am an avid runner and hope to continue my passion into my 50s and beyond.
With that background, I have a question for you more seasoned runners. Months ago and again today I read posts bemoaning a small snowfall and its affect on training. Where I am now In my training life, I could never imagine having a few inches of snow force me inside (I do have an indoor track available to me). Admittedly I have the "advantage" of living in an area where challenging winter weather is the norm for much of the year and I have become used to it.
Did you find yourself getting softer as you aged? Or is this a case of someone living in a more seasonable area and not having the advantage of experiencing regular winter weather?
Thanks for any feedback.
Not for me or my running mates. We were out at the track at 5:30 am last Monday. The temperatures were low 20s with a F50, F55, M50, M60 and M65 getting after it. I will be racing four indoor races (alternating 800m/mile) January and Febrary so will be utilizing an indoor track one to two times a week. We had a slushy snow yesterday morning and looks like a couple of inches for our Monday workout. Doubt that will stop anyone, of course unless it gets icy.
