...suppose barefoot and vibram5F are too minimalist to count... or maybe i'm just too slow...

Anyone here minimalist? After yesterday's clunking run I'm thinking about it.
80min run in a pair of NB240 xc racers -pretty minimal shoe.
Ran 3k down the forest road leading from my cottage, the road is very soft at the moment with dust. It's been high 30s low 40s(celsius) for nearly 2 weeks here. Hasn't rained for nearly 6 weeks on top of our 8 year drought. At the end of the road I cross the highway then into some more forests and run along mostly sandy trails, rocky in places. Lots of old gold diggings from the 1850s pock mark the forests. Through some stands of young ironbark. Saw several echidnas along this section. Temps were rising quickly, probably already high 30s. Spooked a big mob of roos out from their shady siesta near Spring Flat.
The other side of Spring Flat is a good climb and I opened the throttle a little here. Cruised down through untracked scrub and dry water courses back towards town. Started rolling along at a good pace along the smooth forest roads near the edge of town. Nearly got cleaned up by a spooked wallaby that was drinking from a nearly dry water hole. We didn't see each other til the last moment. I'm not sure who shit'em selves the most.
Across the highway over the creek and home, 16ish kms pretty comfortable. Left foot is a bit sore, has been on and off for a few weeks. Otherwise feeling pretty good.
Temp was 38 deg celsius at home.
15.5 mi. ridge/levee/fields. a good one. had to time it just right to avoid the thunderstorms. The water was high going to the fields but not impassable. Glad I wore the thick long sleeves because I would have been cold on just technical. Saw two beautiful hawks..
Sunday has been a day of no running of late. Today again I slept in. It's nice!
We're again the most popular thread on page 1!!! (at least for now) Thanks again to all who continue to offer their daily doses. Keep up the great work, all.
1 quick tempo mile after walking the dog. felt MUCH better.
running solo is better than running with the slower members of my club (no criticism) as a good number of them are much slower than I, even at this age
wow
donated blood a couple of days ago and was told my BP was
122/70 and resting pulse was 54bpm
nurse asked me if I exercised...I laughed and said yes
Today, for 28'11". Series of pickups.
AHR 136 MHR 157.
3Miles on the snowmobile trail. Varied the pace alot. Felt very good again to night, as if I have to push the pace to even raise my breathing cadence to 1 per 3 strides.
Clear skies and a half moon over the snow made for excellent visibility. So calm , so quiet, nothing stiring but me.
46' yesterday.....a tad chilly (30s F), but still reppin' the shorts.....i'm def in spring mode
Today, for 47'11" Slowly for first few miles increased pace to finish. AHR 135 MHR 144.
... that will teach me to improvise a marathon...
Sunday, ran the Rome Marathon barefoot. No specific training. Had a good half a month earlier. A good 10k previous Sunday. Anyway felt good. Weather seemed ideal.
So started on cobblestones and did the first half in 1:40 effortlessly. Then gradually my soles were beaten into pulp by the coarse asphalt. The cobblestones by comparison were pleasant. By 32Km i had slowed down abrubptly. And apart from a bit of a spark at the 35km I crawled to the finish in 4h20mins.
DNF was out of the question. In fact, i was amazed the "decent-time failure" made me react enough to want to bike home as opposed to take a taxi. And take the family to the theater in the afternoon.
But heck, in Florence last year i managed 3:27. Go figure. I think it was a climate, coolish-wind/humidity combination which made my skin really spongy. I didn't have one blister or cut. But my soles felt like pulp.
Oh well. Have fully recovered, which i am happy about. But it just goes to show: don't f**k around with a marathon too much...
Still, after 4h20mins of it, i think i am ready for new pain-threshold plateaus... it'll come in handy later on for some serious future workouts, i am sure...
TODAY: rest. walked the kids to swim practice and back
Today, having been inspired by the Half Marathon race reports, and having been inspired by watching the Event Itself, and feeling sentimental about my history on That Course, and feeling alienated from racing That Event, and feeling responsible as the Course Person who should check for litter after The Event, and wanting to build upon my last long run of 80min/17.5km, and feeling ambitious and rested after my first day off in 33 days yesterday, and not having run over 20km since God Knows When, I began jogging the Half Marathon Course at 0935L Pacific Standard Time.
0-5km = 24:15 warmup.
5-10km = 23:00 cruisin'.
10-15km = 21:45 runnin'.
15-20km 20:32 = tempoish.
20-21.097km = 4:51 jog.
94:23 total. A bit of a jump from the previous long run, but, wtf? It felt lovely. 4min kms were rough just a couple of weeks ago. Now they feel natural in a tempo at the end of a long run. You have all inspired me!
Busy day at work: quick tempo 2-mile run then a dumbell workout.
You bare foot types take it to the next level. Awesome.
Our crew of 4 did 7.5 this AM in 72:16. The fourth member was flagging towards the end but made it. "Skipper" our 11 year old chocolate lab was mellow for the remainder of the day.
Let's hear some more from the Aussie.
Did an 80min mtn bike ride around the local lake this morning. It's actually got some water in it this year, last year it had less than 1% of it's capacity currently at 6%. Hopefully we will get some rain in winter.
Went out running this evening once the cool change came through, dropped the temps from 37C to a pleasant 26C.
Ran 3k down the dirt forest road then turned into the bush and through untracked terrain for 2k, plenty of roos also spotted an emu along here. From there I picked up the rocky climb up Pannells Hill for 2k then up the very steep and rough "stepladder" hill, at the top I spooked 2 wallabies, as always they took off in opposite directions. Once over the top I descended through steep rocky terrain, mostly old gold diggings and dry creek beds until I reached Dead Horse Gully. Picked it up along the sandy trails of the gully. Climbed out of the gully then up the 1.7k climb up to the lookout, worked it pretty solidly.
At the top I stopped to take in the view from the top of the rock. The sun was just setting behind Mt A.
Scooted down the steep rocky trail scattering the roos as I went. This time of the evening they are heading down to the grassy areas near my house.
90plus minutes of good relaxed running.
2 miles.
$ hours on snowshoes over the top of 20" of the insistent white stuff. Prepping the trees to secure a harvest of Maple syrup. With 40F forecast for tommorow the real marathon of my year wiil begin.

All systems working and normal.
34 minutes yesterday
