This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
I'll take a stab at it: Because recruiter57 didn't actually do that?
That's pretty poor form to insinuate that. I have nothing to hide as you can see from my most recent post with my strava feed. I'm not afraid to show who I am either. My name is right there...and I am registered on here rather than someone hiding behind a random username.
Care to take back your insinuation that I did not do that? Or, do you choose to not acknowledge when you are mistaken?
Thanks for posting your strava. I know you are legit. I found two things interesting. 1. During your short 6 Mile run you have cardiac drift. Just like every other runner on the planet. Yet Wils HR does the opposite. It goes lower the longer he runs. Even running for 13 hours.
2. I guess I am the only one who doesn’t understand this one. But how do you have a cadence of about 182 while running at only 10:30 pace. I am not saying it is a sign of cheating, I just don’t get how the feet can turn over so fast at slow paces. Most people when they slow down to zone 1or 2 have slower cadence.

Both valid points, but so far Will G’s clearly been running during periods of the data showing those HRs and cadences - both here and with Will C observing.

My running cadence has been pretty darned consistent for every run I've ever done. Obviously races is faster because I'm running faster. You can look at any of my runs...my running cadence is in the 180s and my walk cadence is in the 130s. I continually move my feet :) My typical training pace is 10:30-11:45 and my cadence is always consistent.
Regarding my HR, as a RunWalkRunner (run 2 min, walk :30 typically) my HR average is lower than a constant runner. In terms of his, all I can tell you is we talked/joked about the HR conspiracy and I said 'my HR is 138 what's yours...his response was '105' The dude is in amazing shape. He was in a groove and on an 'easy' run.
These are my thoughts based on what I saw with my own two eyes and comparing our stats side by side.

This is not odd at all. I have trained myself to run at 180 as it is supposed to be more efficient. When I joined Dan Lawson on his jogle fkt, he was running 10-10.30 and I got in step with him and found his cadence to be more like 190. Short strides make you less susceptible to injury.
Listen Let's not knock people who run a 13min mile. Running is running. RunWalkRun is running. I realize this next statement doesn't apply to the 3hr marathoners, but if 13min...or 15min miles is the sweet spot for someone, we should praise them. Everyone starts somewhere. Everyone has a sweet spot. While I might train at a 11/12 min pace, I can still race at a 7:30/8min pace. I realize I am taking out this frustration point on you, but there have been others who have 'knocked' someone who runs slower.
Hi all, here's an update on another thread about the British runner William Goodge doing Transcon at the moment and some worrying irregularities.Namely that he runs at 150-170bpm in the first two days of his multidayers, colla...
Yes, but they're not crowing about how amazing they are.
You don't think that running a 13 min pace on 62...or 52...or 40 miles is impressive? Kudos to you then. I know that if/when I would regularly run those distances (only done it twice at one time) and I averaged that as my pace, I would be proud of myself and telling all of my friends :) No, it is not a 3 hr marathon pace...but he isn't running a marathon. Yes, there are others who have run faster paces at shorter distances over multi-days. But, the guy is out there for 12 or 13 hours running and walking and not doing the 'deadman shuffle' Just maybe that should be admired. I get it if that isn't your style. To each their own! The reality is that he is inspiring others to run and to push themselves a bit further than before. He told me directly that he has 10 times the supporters than the detractors. How about we celebrate everyone's best ability?
The guy has an army of acolytes and looks like a model, so hardly surprising people are blowing smoke up his ass and he is pushing snake oil and making a ton of money for himself, on the back of that. If he was expressing the struggle rather than "wow I'm so incredible, I'm not even tired" line, I'd be on board. The guy is laughing at people who would struggle to do a 13 min mile. Maybe if he ain't tired, he should speed up or run further.

So let me get this straight…you’re mad that is isn’t showing that he is struggling to your standard of struggle? When have you seen him laugh at a 13 min mile. You are the one who said that isn’t running, not him. And,umm…isn’t he, in fact, running further now? Here you go, tearing down just because he isn’t doing it the way you “think” it should be done. Come on
...and no. Not with that support crew I don't. I don't know you, but I bet you could. I 100% bet I could. I just don't have a spare $100k.
I don’t know who you are or what you do for a living. But whatever you do, do people knock you for your work? This is his job right now. Do you think it didn’t take work to get those sponsors? And to continue to promote them doesn’t take effort. Now you’re knocking him for getting creative, get this journey funded so he could do it a different way than those that have struggled along the way. If you worked tail off, maybe you could get sponsors to support you doing this. Maybe you could bring some good to this world? I have hope in you. There I go again…being positive!

Yes. I only said that to goad you into posting it. Now that you have done so, I acknowledge that you are not full of crap. My apologies.

Folks, we’re going to be tightening up a bit. We have confirmation of certain Goodge followers and apparent attempts to subvert ongoing inquiries into the proceedings. We thank you in advance and appreciate your cooperation as the governing body continues its impartial investigation.
Yes. Let’s get back to the question of how he could possibly be cheating when his hr remains low when being observed. As of yet, no one has come up with a suggestion for how he could be cheating that stands up.

This is so reminiscent of the posts in the Litton or Rossi or Meza threads which would claim that their lack of imagination or the absence of a "gotcha" photo or video was actual proof that their results were valid. In the Rob Young thread there is a chance that this kind of smokescreen would have worked until Laz and his crew cut through the BS with round the clock observation.
The difference with RY was he wasn’t posting any data up so there were plenty of ways he could have been cheating. In this case we have people saying ooh he has a low hr while running so he must be cheating. But when people observe and even run with him, he still has a low hr, so the onus is on suggesting a mechanism by which he can be cheating. Rossi too had no Strava and course cutting was always an option for how he cheated. I’m just asking for a sensible suggestion for how he is cheating.
