Hammel is on the spectrum? How did you come to that conclusion? As a gal on the spectrum who helps co-coach my old HS team from time to time, having ASD doesn't automatically mean you're awkward with other ppl or a "cancer of a person". I like to think I'm pretty friendly and get along with others (enough for my old HS coach to ask me to help him coach) in spite of my condition and I've met completely neurotypical people who don't know how to get along with others communication-wise and are complete jerks.
However I do agree that Ventura fell off, probably because of Hammel's subpar coaching. #BringCruzBack
Matt Hammel has been an issue ever since his kids were in the program. Sadie E is such a nice girl, but since Matt’s involved everyone can’t wait for her to graduate so Matt is gone for good. #BringCruzBack
I’m wondering how the overall merge results compare with “the merge” results. Will Buchanan leapfrog JSerra and Santiago? All three are close. I would hope all three get in to NXN.
I don’t think Buchanan will leapfrog JSerra and Santiago
Ventura girls team 5th in the merge, far behind 4th

The problem with Matt Hammel. He’s causing divide between the teams and coaches. This is why Cruz left. Matt is a strange guy as he’s on the spectrum. She is very awkward to the parents , kids and coaches. A complete cancer of a person
Bumping this, asking for evidence. I was the one who asked for confirmation if hammel is on the spectrum or not.

When someone is one the spectrum they don’t think clear. The Ventura culture has been destroyed because of Matt Hammel. He’s cringe in so many ways. He always gets a pass because of his disability

I’m in Seattle and used to live in California. My kid ran with Hammel’s kid. I have no knowledge of what’s going on now at Ventura, but from my experience Matt Hammel is a nightmare to deal with. Matt is a High-functioning. He lives a someone normal life, but extremely hard to deal with and very rude and doesn’t understand basic life functions

Normally people on the Spectrum are very nice and polite. Matt is a total jerk. Maybe he’s not on the spectrum and he’s just dense.

He used the same score scale as Clovis (15:00 = 189). Yes it is the same course, but I thought the conditions were slightly better today, so I thought he might adjust it a tiny bit. But maybe it wasn't enough to justify a different rating for the same course.
Two big takeaways on the boys side, and as much as I like to research things, I am not going to try and look up if this is the first time either of those has happened.
11 boys broke 15 this year.
Every division winner broke 15!!!!
On the girls side, Engelhardt and Blade once again were amazing.
The Santiago team was such a big surprise this year. They weren't on my pre-season list at all, and nobody else asked me rate to them.
Could you please be more specific? I understand that he is disliked but I have yet to see specific examples of his supposedly abnormal behavior. Postseason coaching skills probably leave a lot to be desired tho given how Ventura choked at state today.
Times were just crazy fast this year. Wasn't supposed to be a great year in Cali but they really showed out. Great conditions, super shoes, whatever, give it up to those kids.
Fasthorse & Parra & Goodsey ( DNS ) don't auto qualify for NXN on time/place. That's why ya run the race.
Josh Spiker is Ventura’s head coach now. I don’t know anything about him. But weeks ago, people are posting that some of the top Ventura runners try to get private coaching. Not a good sign.
There's a good chance that Sadie Engelhardt and Chiara Dailey will turn down NXN for Foot Locker, which would free up spots for two more girls to go to NXN.
However, the next two girls in line, Jaelyn Williams and Gioana Lipizzo, are from the San Diego area. Like Chiara Dailey, they might want to stay home and run Foot Locker, which is kind of a home course for them.
Does anyone know what the deadline is for them to accept or reject their NXN invitations?

I think conditions were significantly better especially for the later races. The earlier races got ~50 weather and later races got ~70 which was a bit lower than what it was at Clovis for the champ races. All the people after the champ races at Clovis had 80-90 degree weather.
