The uniparty is a thing. It's not a coincidence that every neo-con Republican in the country suddenly became a Democrat when Trump threatened to end the forever wars and cut off their gravy train.
Another great example of the stupid, false sophistication of the poorly educated. Let’s see, did a pathetically small number of Rs reject Trump because he is disgusting and clearly unfit to be president? OR…..did a pathetically small number of Rs reject him because ONLY those Rs are part of the scary military industrial complex? And you choose #2.
To SIMPLY think that some people can easily see the massive personal and professional flaws in a person isn’t sophisticated. But knowing how this big scary world REALLY works is. So again, you pick #2.
And it’s even more interesting, because a very good question can be asked in this case: What’s more dangerous for the country, enabling Trump or encouraging some foreign interventions in order to make a buck? The latter is disgusting, but I’ll take it over Trump every day and twice on Sunday. Ike warned against it. But it didn’t and won’t destroy our country. Trump can.
…additionally, pretty sure that the military industrial complex was going to be JUST fine whether we had (by that time) just a few thousand troops (plus too many contractors) in Iraq and Afghanistan, or not.
-The Deep State started working against the US President in January, 2017 and stopped working against the US President in January, 2021. The whole thing was designed to get Donald Trump and only Donald Trump?
Deep state’s always been there. Eisenhower warned us about it in his farewell address. They took out Trump like they took out Nixon. The deep state hates a pacifist. Biden gave them their war in Ukraine where they get to sell the bullets and the bandaids, so they are happy. For now.
The guy that took out Nixon was Nixon. The Deep State didn't run his campaign with the dirty money and dirty tricks, and even after the break in Nixon could have prevented investigation that uncovered the trail of dirty money if he'd just expressed dismay about rogue actors in his campaign and fired people. The cover up got him, and that's on him.
Did an FBI guy feed info to the WaPo reporters? Yes, but only because he was a disgruntled employee who didn't get the promotion he wanted. And his information was only relevant because the campaign was engaged in a coverup.

Because you're painfully stupid you still think Trump exists in a vacuum.
No one says Trump is without flaw.
The choice is Trump or the radical left.
No non-imbecile can look at Trump policies and Biden policies and thinks Biden is better for the country.
I hope you have 9 illegals sleeping in your den and you sure as hell better not have any gas powered appliances in your home.

So dramatic - always with the fear mongering. Do you struggle to get out of bed some days.
Ohio seems to think that the Right/GQP are the radicals:
While abortion was not directly on the special election ballot, the result marks the latest setback for Republicans in a conservative-leaning state who favor imposing tough restrictions on the procedure.
Your ignorance is showing. Trump won Ohio by 8 points in 2016 and 2020.
Nobody voted in the special election. The left bought the result they wanted and the abortion amendment is still doomed in November.
American Democrats have one of the most radical positions on abortion anywhere in the world.
Which just goes to show what a losing issue abortion is for Republicans.
It was Republicans who set up the special election in the middle of August because they thought they could sneak one past the voters. It was Republican mega-donors like Richard Uihlein who spent millions campaigning for it. Nobody voted? Turnout was double what it was for all of last years primaries combined. And still Republicans got trounced.

A certain irony here, then, because the legislators who set up this special election did so precisely because they hoped "nobody" would vote--and that the few who did vote would be highly motivated members of the Pro-Forced-Birth faction.
The November balloting will not include any Congressional offices AFAIK, and that always depresses turnout. Yesterday's vote established abortion rights as a "winning" issue--though those rights almost certainly do not enjoy a 3 to 2 advantage among the entire Ohio electorate--and people love to vote for a winner, so the pro-choicers may show up in droves in November. Meanwhile, the PFB folks may look at yesterday's result and think, "What's the point of voting in November?" and stay home.

Still a tiny turnout compared to a normal election. Democrats turn out in droves for abortion because abortion is like a religion to them. The majority of republicans who aren't religious nuts don't care much about abortion.

Abortion is a much bigger issue for republicans than Democrats:
78% of Republicans think abortion should be illegal
53% of liberals/moderates think abortion should be legal
It’s a split issue for liberals. Not a huge swing in voter turnout. The whole “abortion is like a religion to them” thing is a farce to drive GOP turnout.
I don’t think government should get involved in the matter. Do anti-abortion folks want to see women and doctors thrown in jail for it? Pay a hefty fine? What is the endgame? Even DeSantis, who seems anti-abortion at the lectern, said he doesn’t think women should face punishment for breaking abortion ban laws. So why even have them?

The article you linked shows that 81% of Democrats/lean Democrat think abortion should be legal in all cases while only 67% of Republicans/lean R think it should be illegal in all cases.
Regardless, it doesn't seem to say anything about where the issue falls on these voters importance meter.

And to the why have them question... Some people think life is important and that the unborn have rights.

I agree that life is important, but the unborn don’t have the same rights as the born.
should you be able to claim an unborn child as a dependent on your taxes? Should the fathers of unborn children start paying child support at the moment of conception?
And again, if the government makes abortion illegal, and a woman gets one, what do you think should happen? Should she be put to death? Should she go to jail for 25 years?

Yep. This was a HUGE loss for Republicans in Ohio, and it's a message that SHOULD be taken loud and clear by the GOP that the majority of voters support the right to abortion. My state (OHIO) has become increasingly red over the last decade, and even here in Ohio, 57% of voters support access to legal abortion.
And yes, turnout was huge for a special election in August.
As usual, TAITR has no idea what he's talking about.

There's a lot of space between claiming a fetus as a dependent on your taxes and treating it like an insect you can kill without a second thought.
I don't think abortion should be illegal. I'm with the mainstream on abortion. I think 15 weeks is a good limit which is the limit most of Europe uses with exceptions for the life of the mother.
There's multiple forms of birth control available. Getting pregnant is a choice at this point. If you make a bad choice and get pregnant 15 weeks should be plenty of time to make your decisions.

Democrats LOVE abortion so they turned out for the election. Republicans largely don't care so they didn't particularly when normal people didn't even realize the issue was about abortion to begin with.
Your 24 week abortion bill will go down in flames in November because Ohio is red.

You are a f*cking idiot. Democrats don't "love" abortion. We believe that decision (other than when a fetus could be viable, so anywhere from 20 to 24 weeks along) should be up to the woman and her doctor and that the government has no business butting in. Ohio's current draconian law doesn't allow a 10 year old to get an abortion after she was raped (yes, an actual case in Ohio...she had to travel to another state). Ohio's current draconian law doesn't allow an abortion after 6 weeks, when most women might not even know they are pregnant, and there is no exception for rape or incest. NO ability for a woman to decide to abort if a major birth defect is determined. Just a complete attack on women. Absolutely INSANE that a woman who is raped has to take the fetus to term.
Your view is the minority view too among voters. I wouldn't be so sure that Ohio's REASONABLE law on abortion in November doesn't pass...Republicans are VERY concerned about that which is why they tried to sneakily get this Issue 1 passed yesterday. Major fail.

Yes they do. You don't have mobs of morons screaming on the SCOTUS' lawn and threatening to murder them because they're apathetic on the issue.
My view is very much main stream. Europe bans abortion after 15 weeks.
Ohio's laws are just as out of the mainstream as your views are.

Deer Lenny,
Please learn how to read.
OF THE 46% of Republicans, WHO IDENTIFY AS HARDCORE, RIGHTWING, 78% think abortion should be illegal.
OF THE 53% of of Republicans, WHO IDENTIFY AS MODERATE, LIBERAL, 21% think abortion should be illegal.
It’s a SOLID PRO-CHOICE issue (NOT A liberals issue) for republicans who IDENTIFY as moderate, liberal.

Also should you prosecute a woman who drinks alcohol, smokes or does drugs while pregnant for endangering the welfare of a child?
We could all agree that a woman that directly gave a child alcohol, cigarettes or drugs should be prosecuted for abuse or endangerment.
The fact that no one is calling for women to be prosecuted for drinking alcohol, smoking or doing drugs when pregnant for abuse/endangerment means that we are making a distinction between the unborn and the born.
