but that's not what you said at all. You said you knew for a fact that they knew about it. You need to choose your words more carefully to be clear about what you mean. Sloppy posting gets people in trouble.

Dude. Stop. I don't care if she was infatuated with him. He clearly was sending her loving emails.
If someone is infatuated with you, that means you can exploit the situation? No freaking way.
A coach has a great deal of power and it's their responsibility not to abuse it. Period.
Most teens - when everything is going perfectly well - are a psychological mess at age 17. Imagine what it's like when your mom goes from being perfectly healthy to dead within 17 days because she got bit by a mosquito.

now there's something you don't hear every day.
If they thought it to be so then in their mind it was so...in this situation not telling authorities and then years later saying Im shocked and feel sad for MB isnt quite true and should be held accountable the same as everyone else.
Im thinking about making a pie chart of who lays at fault here in the situation. DST would likely be the highest but where to spread the rest is the tricky part...and lots would depend on if theres a civil suit.

Maybe in that chart you can address your statement form last week in which you said that MB was at fault without providing any follow up when asked by multiple people on why you thought that.

Maybe I should start a separate thread on this.
I've never seen the SafeSport guidelines before. They seem pretty good except for one.
"An ethical coach will not text, email or call an athlete separately from teammates"
I can see tons of reasons a coach would text or email an athlete apart from their teammates or even call them - to give individual instruction. Am I way off base here?
Email is a professional means of communication and a written record is left. "Hey Jim, you need to 5x mile @ such and such pace . Let me know how the workout goes."
Hey "Jim, how is the injury going? Did we learn anything from the PT appointment?"
Is this only dealing with minors? Or all coach athlete relationships? I guarantee pro coaches are texting/calling/ athletes all the time individual in tons of pro sports and college sports too.
Calling leaves no record but the others do.
What happens if you violate this guideline?
It seems innocent enough and no idea on the pro level but if you think back to pre-email days coaches / teachers rarely if ever contacted players/ students individually by phone so why should they now. If they needed to address someone individually they did it in person at school/ practice. I can understand the rule re group communication only as it leaves little opportunity for he said/ she said situations.
I've seen rules for coaches about never giving a player a ride unless other teammates are along for the same reason.
If safe sport is for minors that is fine but pros I think is Very different. And running is such an individual sport I wouldn’t have problems with texts/ emails as their is solid proof of what was written .

Wejo, I responded to your first post. There is no issue with corresponding to an individual if you include parents on the texts/emails and get their permission for calls.

There’s quite a few former Speed River & Guelph athletes and coaches who had a lot of success with DST who now have jobs in Canada as coaches and other hard to get positions in Canadian athletics. It’s fair to say some of them probably wouldn’t have gotten these jobs had they not had success with DST in their post-collegiate years.
Since it’s obvious DST wasn’t some charismatic cult leader capable of brainwashing all of them, these people clearly were willing to compromise their integrity by continuing on with DST after hearing the stories about him because they felt remaining associated with DST would result in the best chance of their own success.

If something horrible happened to you while out birdwatching you might want to get back out there and face it.
There are no demons, or confronting them. That is a fantasy statement. I.m not a birdwatcher; I'm a naturalist. And yes the chemicals used to destroy unwanted invasive species in Preservation are destructive to various species. That can be observed, without invoking the word demons.
OK, you're out on the escarpment loving Nature and hoping to see a surviving Timber Rattler and one bites you.
You recover and are spotted walking in the same area a few years later.
What an idiot.

No due diligence?
The Globe article was horrifying to read; I had trouble getting through it all, and was in tears reading it. I feel sorry for all the victims.
Back in the day much of the OUA was tired of getting beat by Guelph year after year, but the nagging question wasn't "how to they keep winning?", but with all that talent coming in year-after-year, "why aren't they winning by bigger margins?"
The unfortunately answer is clear now; Guelph wasn't winning because of the environment DST created, but in spite of it.

easiest pie chart ever.
draw a circle, fill it with any solid colour of your chosing and write the letters DST inside.
now it if you wanted to draw pie chart for who's responsible for allowing him to continue in the sport and not providing any support for MB then it will look a little different.

pretty sure i addressed this by saying MB had 3 years to end this where she did not.

I wouldnt agree with this at all...DST is charismatic...so not sure what you are saying here...you cant not turn a nothing program into a national dynasty without having charisma...so come again?

no no no clearly DST was why they won...lets be serious...regardless of what happened you cant take away and pretend he played no part in them going form zero go hero

Gillie is not to blame much...lets be serious he came from the east to train...I give him a pass...he wasnt there during the formative years of the club etc...hillary..she came for love...def knew the rumours but noone takes rumours seriously...and pretty sure trent coached her the whole time there as he did his masters..under the tutelaege of DST...im pretty sure dst never touched hillary...cant be sure..he was trents idol..may have gave him permission but i doubt it...weird tho they dont have kids yet...so .......
Are you actually saying Trent and Hilary don’t have kids? Because I’ve met both their boys and they’re really cute.
Does not wanting my kids to watch a bisexual threesome at the Olympics make me a bigot?
