This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
Presumably WG is now feeling super confident that no one can prove he's not doing this, that he's happy to up the ante. Sadly I think the only way to work out what's actually going on out there is to get some eyes on him. I'm losing hope that that's going to happen.
Huh? How'd it affect my HR? I am normally a RunWalkRunner so my HR fluctuates. But, if he was running, I was running. High 130s is about right for me at that pace
“I was sweating a lot and he barely was. I only wish I had his physique and capability.”
I was half expecting you to regale us with a story of a passionate night on the roof of his RV, sipping NuCalm whilst gazing up at the stars.
Finally...now there is a funny comment...it only took 1053 to get a little humor on this thread!

Nothing like validating a 3,000 mile run by watching 6 miles of it in person. I think we can all go home now and Will doesn't even need to upload to Strava anymore. We trust him.
Given that everyone who comes within 30m of him seemingly ends up assaulted or seduced, it may be better to get a drone up in the air.
People with an open mind and open eyeballs could see that he is, in fact, doing every step of this run. That is not being seduced. That is being a rational human being who starts their day believing in the good in people rather than assuming off the bat they are doing something nefarious. Perhaps if someone chose to follow along simply with the desire to validate his efforts, ala Laz and the Geezers (their name not mine), it might be welcomed. The way WC chose to go at it, starting out insinuating fraud, was never going to have a collegial end.
(Let the down votes commence as many -see how I used the proper word instead of everyone- on here only want to approve of people who are talking negatively about WG's efforts)

Oh, don’t get me wrong, my criticisms of Will C were made some pages back (when the report was published).

That is more than you've done. All you've chosen to do is spew negativity and disbelief.
Do you still truly believe that RB would risk his reputation and livelihood to create a fraudulent event? Do you really think the videographers would risk the only thing they have as a good reputation? They have very little to gain and everything to lose. Think rationally.
But seriously, do you believe NuCalm is legit? Or do you believe it is a scam? If one believes it is fraudulent placebo type stuff then it doesn't take a large leap of faith to believe that Will and the crew would cheat to effectively market this snake oil for $$$.
So, ask yourself. Does Will and crew truly believe NuCalm is the bomb or are they actors selling stuff?

Come on man. The guy has just started a 15 day 'sprint finish' in a Transcon.
I appreciate your personal feelings toward the guy, but it's just ridiculous.

I know it is hard to believe one could kick out a sprint like finish to a transcon. But then again, we haven't used NuCalm. If we did, we would be in the know.
(Now only $49.99 per month with a 12 month commitment)

Well, thank you for that upvote 👍🏻
In regards to NuCalm, I don't have any experience with it. I just did a google search and it says it is FDA approved and was shown to work in clinical studies. But, I wasn't apart of them. My wife says I fall asleep in 30 seconds when my head hits the pillow, so I don't have much trouble sleeping :) But, look at the stats. From what I can see on Strava, the last couple of miles leading up to his NuCalm nap are in the 12s. After the nap, they are in the 9s and 10s. If you remove any of the crazy theories about biking/muling/rollerblading, that seems like it may be working for him. And, that's just with his 30 min mid-day nap. Just maybe the 6-8 hrs (or whatever he gets of sleep) with that device is truly helping him recover in a way hasn't been seen. No one else has attempted it this way. That is why there are so many doubters.
Why not keep the possibility in your mind that with all of the advances in technology that there could be a way for WG to be doing what he is doing.

Do you use any device/apparatus to recover from long runs/rides? Foam Roller, massage stick, cold plunge, normatec boots? Do you stretch or meditate? Ever used BioFreeze? Do you distrust every product being sold that advertises it could help you recover?

I am very busy, and I don't know if the route and timings are published (I'll bet not), but if he is coming near Central Ohio I would go check. I'm not worried about any potential violence or threats therein. I'll walk straight up to him. If assaulted, he gets arrested.

You know what got me following this entire journey? I wasn't on it from the start. I started following it when someone posted something about the run on a FB page. From there, I went and looked at his IG feed and then the Strava upload. I was truly impressed. Then, a couple of people in the comments were calling him a fraud saying that there is no way he could be doing this in the manner he was. I don't like negative people...I believe in the good in people. Then, holy cow I fell down the rabbit hole here on LR. WC made some accusations, but his premise was that since he didn't have the pedigree and that his HR was too low for what he believed to be possible, he must be a fraud. I will defend until I see otherwise that he is doing this.
And, is him stepping up his mileage to 62 miles a day really a 'sprint finish'? Based on his average pacing, that is just an extra 70-80 minutes a day. That isn't a sprint. I believe he has been fueled a bit by all the haters and doubters.
Have you attempted to actually learn about him and his story? Or, did you jump straight to 'this is ridiculous?'
Hi all, here's an update on another thread about the British runner William Goodge doing Transcon at the moment and some worrying irregularities.Namely that he runs at 150-170bpm in the first two days of his multidayers, colla...

I know the US has issues, but it's still against the law to assault or throw rocks at someone, and it is NOT against the law to be near someone on a public roadway. I would of course be GoPro'd up to prevent any "he said" BS.

Serious question, have you ever moved your body on your own for 50 miles in a day? I don't care who you are, it is not trivial. To do it for two months? And to get faster? Anyone that says it isn't "all that special" without showing they know what they are talking about is FULL OF IT.
