Your assessment didn't pan out. 5 to 6 guys in front of Parra? Not even on foreign turf!
That settles it. Early season speed ratings were slightly higher in the northeast/southeast/new york/midwest regions + maybe hole in the wall/desert twilight when compared regions such as texas/california/utah/colorado/idaho. I think it's been fixed now so speed ratings should be pretty solid moving forward.
You guys just messed it all up. It is a good thing to have low speed ratings. low speeds have been a nice advantage for our teams in utah. They keep our runners hungry for the national meets. We have always kill it.

I think that 7th is too high for Downers Grove North right now. San Clemente should be 7th. They weren’t far behind Dana Hills at the OC champions.
San Clemente is getting their 2-5 pack really tight, which is what is really helping them do so well. The only thing that could be an issue is that their 6th guy is very far behind their 5th. They just need to make sure that their top 5 are on when it matters
Any thoughts on Webb School of Knoxville TN? They qualified for NXN last year and didn’t graduate anyone. Can they qualify again?
Cuthbertson isn’t as good as they were last year. They graduated some very key seniors
Cardinal Gibbons (NC) has to be the favorite for #2 at this point. Hannah Rae Shaffer will finish lower than Tatnall's #1 and their #2's were neck and neck at Great American. Tatnall killed Gibbons at 3-5 for a 28 point win but Tatnall's 6 and 7 were way back so Tatnall seems susceptible to someone having a bad day. Cardinal Gibbons #7 finished 80 spots higher than Tatnall's #6 at Great American for instance.

Well to be fair, Trabuco's number 1 is injured, and their number 4 move out of state. They would be a much different team with those runners.
That #4 runner had the team's best 3200m time during track, and the #3 1600m time. He may have been their #2 runner in XC. In any case, remove 2 of the best runners from any team and their national ranking will severely drop.
Dana Hills does not have depth. They are four deep and need their 5th to improve by 20secs and only ran six guys. Their 1-5 gap is huge. Only team that has a bigger gap is Ventura.
In this race, Dana Hills’s #5 was only 9 seconds behind their #4

My point still stands. Oliver did well in closing the gap by 9 secs on a relatively more easier course. Oliver is young and has more opportunity to grow and he still needs to get 20 secs faster on the Woodward course from his 16:10 time from Clovis invite. Running anything over 16:00 at state kills a teams chance to make it to NXN especially since SC is tightening the screws and honing in. Oakdale will be difficult to handle in a more condensed field. If Dana wants to perform well at NXN they need to keep their 1-5 gap under 50 secs.
Couple other notes:
-Evan slightly underperformed at OC. He was about 10 secs slower.
-You can definitely see the impact the previous head coach of Dana, Coach Butler has had on San Clemente. When he was coaching at Dana, his teams would not perform to expectation during September but once OC champs came around, Dana would start clicking and really start proving their preseason rankings. Luckily Coach Dunn is back ant Dana and you’re starting to see the same upward trajectory that San Clemente is showing, that Dana also known for. Dana is the blueprint.
