Checking in after 3 weeks of "vacation" in the U.P. of Michigan. My husband loves to chain saw while wearing a headnet to ward off mosquitoes and deer flies. That's not exactly what I think of as a vacation so I spent my time doing core and hip exercises, riding my bike, and working back into running. Lake Superior was way too cold for swimming (40 degrees) but I used the pool at Northern MI Univ. to keep up with my workouts. My hip isn't 100% better but it doesn't bother me too much when I'm running.
Here was my week:
Sun 6.3 mi easy, 1:10 hr biking
Mon 5 mi easy (mile 3 harder, 8:06), 2600 yd swim
Tue 6.1 mi easy, 1:06 hr biking
Wed 6 mi with tempo miles 3-5 (8:23), 2600 yd swim
Thu Driving home
Fri Driving home
Sat 8.1 easy, 2500 yd swim
That put me at 31 miles for the week. I felt great running on the lakeshore trails around Marquette in the cool weather. But I've been struggling with the heat, humidity, and hills since we got home. I've had to do walk/runs for the past two days and can't believe how tired my legs feel running hills.
Tomorrow I head to ATL to work the Elite Hospitality area at the Peachtree 10k. If any of you are running, I'll be at the finish line and at the Park Tavern with the elites after the race. Happy 4th!
