Why? Many of us just love to follow JS's road to the Champs.It doesn't look good for him now to get in 20 min shape in August, but anyway interesting to follow his training to try for a comeback after many years a Swedish elite runner.One of my friends, an Irish master runner, told he was coached by JS some years ago and in short time JS coached him to a master personal best 5000m 15 min and a half in 1:12. JS is really an amazing coach.
How goes training magic coach? Wonder if you can advice me some on my own training to reach better times . In my early 40s and best 5 k 18:24 and 10 k 37:57. I use to run 5-6 runs per week. Mileage between 60- 90 km per week. Do you think I should try to up my mileage?

Hi Botox girl. I got a cold again when the April weather here at my place in Sweden is still quite cold .Will start train again when 100% healthy. Very good pb:s you have. This is what you have to do to improve them: 5-6 running sessions per week. 1-2 threshold intervals @ 6:20 pace and/ or a maxVO2 interval e.g 15-20 x 400m @ 86-87 sec with easy walk rest 60-90 sec or wait back to 60% of max heartrate.Then add your easy runs to be maximized aerobic by running close to 8:20 pace. I have been away from this thread for a while. Only 15 weeks to the Championships, almost there! How is the training going? Any rustbuster race planned? Could you post one of your typical weekly training plan? a lot of masters would be interested in how to go from couch to sub-20 5K in less than a year.
At this point we can 100% say that JS will not enter the World Master Champs in August, much less run a sub 20 5k (not to speak of the masters WR originally mentioned). There's no way JS will embarass himself publicly like that after not putting in any serious training for all of base training. Once again Jan, please film yourself doing something measureable like running 1000m on a track if you want anyone to believe the World Champs is gonna happen.

This seems like a good time to (again) re-post the amazingly good prediction that SFR made a while back. I don't think we're rid of the Swedish cockroach for good (they tend to come scuttling back), but he may have moved on to his next scam earlier than anticipated.
I don't believe Jan has any intention to run any race this year. It's just a way that lets him talk about himself for a few months. When the Master's Championships is over, he will find something new to talk about that takes place in the distant future.
He is highly ego-orientated and bases his self-worth entirely on how he compares to others rather than on becoming a better version of himself. He is too mentally weak to show up and race without being able to look good in front of others.
In a few months, he will have some "injury" or something and act like he's upset he will not be able to compete. If he somehow makes it to the starting line, he will not finish and blame some injury to try and protect his ego. I'll be sure to quote this post later this summer when it's proven to be correct.
Well, hello folks! My training goes on and it's still 3,5 months to race time. My muscle memory is very good so I still believe a sub 20 min can be done in August. We will see what happens. If, I just say if, I see I'm not ready in end of July I won't run the WC this year and go for next year when I'm youngest in my age group 65-69.
PS! My coached Sammy Nyokaye had a fine trip to China winning the Bozhou marathon and two 4th places in a half and another marathon.I'm glad for his sake to get some good pricemoney.
