The actual fall took about 5 seconds. But who knows how much recovering and losing touch with the leaders cost her. I don’t think we’d have seen a world record either way.

I don’t think she’ll ever be in this kind of shape again. Look at what happened to Dibaba.
Wouldn't that be nice? Drug cheats out!
Check out the race here. Sifan falls at 21:55 in and she definitely tried to make it up way too fast. I think this could have been a world record day as they were right on pace at 5k and fell off as soon as Hassan hit the deck.
From there, the 3rd 5k section was quite slow for both men and women. Hassan looked upset at the finish.
“Hassan looked upset at the finish”
How surprising!
- tripped at 6K
- no WR
- no PR
- finished 2nd
- missed big paychecks for 64’30”, WR and win
Without knowing the bonus times, my initial thought was "64:00 flat."

The world record is 64:51. Sifan Hassan's pb is 65:15. Fancy Chemutai has run 64:52.
The rabbits are taking Hassan out 3:04 per km pace. A 30:40 10k converts to 64:42..
The race is at 9 am locally in Valencia. Daylight saving s ends in Europe on Sunday night so that should be 4 am ET here. They race will be broadcast on tv so I assume there will be a live stream.
Update: The live stream is supposed to appear here:
The race is supposed to be live here :
mediomaratonvalencia.com/liveKejelhca is in the men's field.

Did Hassan get tripped by the dude running behind? Looked like it.
Didn't look like super fast times all the way around for 2019. That is sort of wild that 59-low and 65-mid are not the fastest of days at a big half marathon but here we are. Weather was less than ideal. 60s & sunny. Would have liked to have seen Hassan not fall and be running on a 45 degree day. Same for Huddle. I think she can improve upon her AR.
Valencia is a very mild city. If you want a 45° F morning in Valencia, the race would have to be moved to late November or even the middle of December.

In 3:33 it looks like he pushed her
It looked like the other 3 had been ordered to make sure Kejelcha won...

No, that's a normal reaction to put your arm forward after the contact. He didn't push her. Watch again and then report back. Thank you.
As I was thinking Hassan also without fall no WR. I mean it will be very hard for her but not impossible since she has 1:05:15 for the European record. But is a huge step to go at 1:04:50.
Am still schocked and the all world is schocked by what we have seen in this september and October, that is a 1:04:28 at the Great North Run and a month later 2:14:04 in Chicago by Brigid Kosgei.
These are times that all the logic fall down. I will not surprise that between one year another Kenyan female runners will come up and destroys Jepkosgei record.
I mean if Brigid Kosgei will focus to prepare an Half Marathon what time she can do? It's incredible 1:04:28 in the buildup marathon training.
And she 's somebody that 4 years ago did the first marathon in 2:47, and without a track career like Hassan.
In a 10000 on a track who would win? I mean if you are able to run 1:04 28 that is a crazy time who would stop you also in a 10000 race. Let's take Mo Farah he won the Great North Run in 59'06 right? To understand what Brigid Kosgei have done
is like if Mo Farah that day at the GNR had run something like 57'50" !!!!!!!! It was crazy or not? You know to understand fully what is happening just make comparison like this one and we understand that something somewhere is going out of control.
Hassan looked like she was tripped by the guy behind her. It was a hard fall and though she got up quickly, holding her hip, that had to have taken a lot out of her, not to mention running fast to catch up.

And who made the contact? This guy was behind her and he wasn't pacemaker. He was too close and because of it she fell. He probably stepped on her foot

She’s got to be disappointed with this result.
I hope we can identify the guy who tripped her up. There’s no reason why guys need to crowd the lead women like they do. If the camera pans back you can see there’s plenty of room on the road. It probably did spoil her rhythm and cost her the win.
This site is like Foxnews or Huffpost.
You are all living in your bubble, and if someone performs outside of your aspirations, abilities, or understanding, they're doping.
The majority of you are joggers, yet you seem to be absolutely certain of the capabilities of elite athletes, and what should be their motivations.
I am not sure this was the case 40 years ago. I won't blame millennials, but you guys think its all about training and manufacturing that perfect moment when you PR. when you fail, as you often do, you attack those who succeed.
Just run. Get real fit. Maybe you'll run as fast as Hassan. I doubt it. You are more committed to the process than the actual action of racing.
Previously linked video is gone, here's one where you see the fall around 43:30
Pretty unusual for a runner to fall and most unfortunate in this case.
