Eggxactally! Too many ex-runners, especially on this board, that talk about their old PRs and sit around.
What's important is "what have you run lately"?
No one cares if you ran fast 30 years ago. Run for yourself now! If that is a 3:59 marathon, good for you. That is running.
I agree! Well said!
I am a retired elite runner and ran my share of fast times and was fortunate enough to participate at the highest level possible. Now I run because I enjoy the purity and simplicity of the sport. Being a runner is an evolution of mind, body, and spirit. Your running evolves through the years and a true runner appreciates each phase and is thankful to be out on the road enjoying another run no matter how fast or slow. For Steve Jones to say what is and is not running or who is or not a runner is wrong. I know Steve and he is a 'Hard Core' guy and very well respected. He is also very set in his ways. Nonetheless, the 5:00 hour marathoner is as much a runner as Steve is or was.
Anyone who understands this is a True Runner!!!
Once a runner always a runner.
