I live in Cambodia - one of the poorest countries in the world - and they still show every single event live on TV (when the power doesn't cut out). Got to see Galen grab silver LIVE... Usain Bolt grab gold LIVE... Kemboi grab gold LIVE... and much more.
And almost ZERO commercials. And even those only last for less than a minute or so.
Not saying this to rub it in the faces of everyone in the civilized world. Completely the opposite. I feel very, very bad for everyone back in the U.S. who has to endure "tape-delayed" coverage (or no coverage at all.)
It is just utterly pathetic on NBC's part that they can't figure out how to properly cover the Olympic games. I live with a bunch of expats who didn't care less about the Olympics before it started. But now, they're asking me which track events are on every night and staying up late to watch them with me because I give them the back stories beforehand and make it fun.
