What are the vegas odds on Rupp running sub-27 depending on fitness and pollen count? I'm feelin' lucky.

This thread reminds me of one of my dumbest quotes ever which my brother never lets me live down. In referring to my odds of running a sub-4 minute mile I said "It's not the pace that gets me, it's the distance."
This cracked me up, fantastic quote. Very similar to my favorite "I was on pace for X:XX at mile 20, but ....."
So true...everyone that's anyone I might add. By a strage coincidence I just printed out my tickets.
Is the Pre 10K course Rupp-certified?

Nope, too much of a pussy.

Mo Farah has stated he's only running the 5000 in Daegu, so I'm not sure running a fast 10,000 6 days after racing in Europe is worth his while.
His race in Europe was an effortless road 10k win in 29:15. I am sure he would have a chance of breaking the 13 year old British record of 27:18; and Pre would probably be his best opportunity this year. I don't think it would spoil his chances in Daegu, still a long time away.
He heard the call. Looks like an amazing 10,000m lineup now; probably the best outside Daegu this year, and quite possibly the fastest race of the season. Interestingly, Tim Nelson is now pacemaker for the 10,000, I hope they get the pacemaking right.

http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/06/01/77/60177_PDF_English.pdfI also wonder what Moses Mosop and Abel Kirui are doing in the "25-30k". Is there such as thing as a track world record for the distance?
The 30k world record was set by Haile (and his pace maker) en route in the Berlin Marathon, so it might be under threat. The 25k world record is from Kosgei in 2010, in a 25k road race (also in Berlin). It's at 1:11:50, and followed a 60:42 HM split. I'd say not impossible to break, but why would anyone try it in a relatively lo-key race?

Looks like I was wrong. British record is going down.
Ok, thanks. 1981?
I guess Mosop will soon be referred to as: "Moses Mosop, a marathon runner and world record holder, who set his personal best of 2:03:06 in Boston 2011". Never mind that wasn't a world record.
Salzar quote : "But we don’t want to make the mistakes of last year, going out after times. ... Doing that last year set him up to have a bunch of people sit on him and out-kick him at the end."
he's been racing 10000 since the 70's you'd think he have that sorted out?

Rupp might have the problem that running 26:50 pace puts you 10 seconds behind the end of the pack by 5000m.
The end of the pack will be running 26:30 pace?
5 men in history have run 26:30.
No one has run that fast in the past 6 years.
When Bekele ran 26:25 at Pre in 2008, second place was 27:13.
I think 26:50 pace would put Rupp right in the thick of things.
That field is so stacked, I wonder if ZT wants to make a run at 26:17? Good news that Deriba is in it, as he will push it in the early stages for sure.
