If you want the handle so bad, just register it. No need to pretend you're someone you're not. Real mature.

I charged the dog screaming which works 95% of the time, the cowardly dog retreats.
I saw a show a few years ago where they tried to measure something like this. They took 100 dog owners and put them in this situation: the owner took the dog for a walk on a leash somewhere familiar. Somebody dressed up as a bear suddenly jumped out into the open and came towards the owner and dog making angry bear sounds and clawing the air aggressively. The owner had to yell in fright once and drop the leash. The bear would then knock the owner down and pretend to attack. Virtually every owner predicted the dog would defend them.
98 of the dogs either immediately ran away or backed off to a safe distance and watched nervously. One German Shepherd stood its ground and stayed between the bear and owner but would not make actual physical contact with the bear. Only one dog, a little mutt of some kind, attacked the bear. It went nuts, knocked the actor down and tore the head off the bear costume. When the head came off the dog stopped and had this "WTF???" look on its face.
It's not exactly the same situation but the message was that 98% of dogs are cowards when faced with aggression.
Alright, I can't argue with you guys anymore, I got a lot of training to do for Baby Nats next year. Our coach has us doing a three mile long run tomorrow so I need my twelve hours of sleep.
College roommate had a pitbull. Came home late one night and it was out of his bedroom and attacked me. I punched that sonofabitch in the head as hard as I could about 10 times and it didn't even budge. I was finally able to get in my room and close the door. Had f*****g puncture wounds all over me and still have little purple scars to show for it 20 years later. Contemplated killing it a few times when roommate was gone because the asshole didn't think the dog was at fault in any way.
Every dog bite comes from a dog that "would never hurt a fly" five minutes earlier. The trail I run has several dogs and their asshole owners that don't leash their dogs. I feel bad for the dogs because eventually one of them is going to come after me and I'm going to do the same thing this guy did.
Is it true that in general there are no bad dogs just irresponsible owners?
I run a trail where about 80% of the people let their dogs run free (as do I). My dog is the type that goes crazy when she sees me put my running clothes on 'cause she knows she's going to go. Admittedly, she gets excited and will approach people to sniff them if I'm not careful to call her to my side (to which she is immaculately obedient). Though I've never been attacked or seen a person get attacked, my dog gets tackled/bit/attacked about every 6 weeks by someone else's dog. Nothing is ever serious but I yell at the people that have out-of-control dogs who let them roam public, lightly populated trails unleashed. Usually something like "get your effing dog under control, it's people like you that give dogs a bad reputation" to which I always hear "s/he's never done that before".
Maybe it's supreme coincidence that 50 or so dogs' first and only aggressive move was towards my dog. More likely is that there are just a ton of a-holes out there that know their dogs are poorly behaved and still don't want to go through the trouble of training them or drive the extra few miles to the dog park. Understand that there are good dogs/owners and bad dogs/owners. Not every off-leash dog is a menace.
I've had my dog (lab mix pound puppy) for 6 years. She has never attacked anything other than the squirrels she chases up trees or ducks into the lake. She barks about once every 2 months when she's startled by someone approaching the front door. She HAS bitten me once: I made the mistake of using a hand-puppet to play with her and she wanted to sink her teeth into what she thought was a small creature. Point is, if my dog ever attacks you or anyone, you have my permission to attack back. She's far less likely to make an unprovoked attack than the average human being and she's safer/more manageable off the leash during runs.
I cheer this great jogger!
So far there are many cases of not only joggers being attacked by unleashed dogs in the US but even some serious runners have been attacked. A case in point, one African athlete was seriously attacked in Texas and was found lying unconscious while the attacker dog was seating on his chest!
So if a any jogger out there can kill dogs with bare hands, please do this world a favor! Just kill them when they attack!!
Cheers once again!
You're worried about dogs?
This is how the kiwis treat their buddies.
The dog is truly man's best friend here.
And and I had to kill a pack of coyotes using nothing but my femur stumps with 5 pounds of bloody red meat tied to my backside.

Yeah the article is a bit sensationalistic
Read a bit quick but notice it does not mention the dog biting the child - if it just knocked it off the bike it sounds a bit over the top. Then again if its your kid you are going to be very protective nad the owner of the dog should have had it on a lead
When given the opportunity, do dogs attack vietnamese more or less often?

As a dog owner to a Pit Bull as well as someone who has been attacked by a few dogs - including a rotty whome I compound fractured his front leg and thus it was removed during an altercation - I have this to say.
Human life is more important than a dog's. If a dog attacks a human at any time for any reason the human has every right to KILL the dog on the spot with no questions asked. It is the owners responsibility to keep any and all potentially dangerous dogs in the confines of their house.
I love my pit bull as he is very loyal, but I would have zero hesitation to killing him if he ever attacked any human other than one breaking into my house.
I agree with this. I have a lab. I love him. If he got out in the street and started messing with people, I would beat his ass worse than Michael Vick. If he started atticking someone. He would be dead. I would expect any dog owner do the same if I were the man in the street.
This guy had all the right intentions. If the dog were still alive they would be putting it down anyway. He saved the taxpayers a bit of money.
There are leash laws for a reason. This would never have happened of the owner would have had the dog on a leash. Where was the owner when this was all happening? If your dog runs in the street and gets hit by a car and killed, you the owner of the dog are responsable for for the damage to the vehicle.
So do I feel bad for the dog, yep. It isn't his fault he has idiots for owners.
The runner had every right to defend himself in this manner.
As a runner, you have a right to go out and not be harassed by a dog. As a responsable dog owner, it is YOUR responsablity to have 100% control over your animal at all times. If you can not handle that responsablity, maybe you are better suited for owning goldfish.
Does killing a dog threatening your child go on Flagpole's 'this is what makes a man' list?
I was riding my bike home one day from class. A chow mix was on a leash of some college girl. She was getting bags out of her car as I rode by. The dog ran at me, got free of the owner and then bit my calf as I rode by. I jumped off my bike and put my bike between me and the dog and yelled at it and it backed off. I asked the girl if the dog was up to date on shots and she said yes and that she was sorry and that her dog had never done anything like that before. Anyway, chows are mean.
The guy did what the vet was going to do to the dog anyway. In any high profile case like this, especially where a person is injured and there are children involved, the dog will be put down.
Saying the dog didn't have to die is a mute point. The second a dog bites a human being, it has crossed the line. The owner is responsible for putting up a fence, leashing the dog or keeping it in the house. If he doesn't do that, then he is allowing to the dog to react, like a animal, and possibly injure someone.
Somw white guy strangling a large, agressive dog?
