I love my GPS. Who is complaining? I am just interested in how it works and the math question at hand - I guess we live in a world where every inquiry is taken as something more than just simple curiousity and interest in how the thing functions. I think it is an interesting question to wonder if arm swing effects accuracy because at first blush it seems like it should until you work it out. If you didn't read the thread, I am defending the accuracy under most conditions.
Although, I will say that I call bullshit on your saying you got that kind of accuracy on a track. They are notoriously inaccurate on tracks - even Garmin says so. This is well documented and explained on the Garmin messageboards by both users and Garmin reps. see an earlier post for a GPS tracking map done on a track.
Also, there is no government restriction on the accuracy of civilian GPS's anymore.
