It all depends on what garbage Kersee has put in SMLs head. If she goes for a WR all it takes is some lactic and one mistake for Bol to take advantage. If she solely focuses on staying within herself and winning the race she’ll be fine.
Sydney is still the favourite but she is not going to run 50 flat. She went out pretty hard here and the controlled the second half, but there is not two more seconds in it.
The only thing we know for sure about the 1500m final is that someone told Hobbs Kessler exactly what they are going to do and he’ll be well positioned the whole time.
Just because Bol actually races and routinely beats her competition, it doesn't mean she is close to SML. There really isn't a meaningful rivalry tbh—SML is in her own league.
Unfortunately Bol just happens to be in an era with SML. If she was 10 years younger or older, she would have probably dominated the 400 flat and hurdles.

SML is definitely going for the WR and going for it carries risk of blowing up. Your statement does not make sense.
^This. I don’t even think she views Bol as a threat.
think yakob is 2-1 ~67% to win. wanted to throw a couple grand on polymarket, but im in the us unfortunately.
monaco 3:26.7 was almost a perfect race running the inside of lane 1 with even drafting until 1k, fast track, 0 altitude etc
josh in the bowerman mile ran a 3:28.6 equivalent in very imperfect conditions, lots of lane 2 running, little drafting, not ideal weather? Might equal 3:27 low in the same conditions as monaco
so i think in terms of effective fitness, jakob is around 0-.5 better than kerr. i think most underestimate the value of effective fitness.
unsure about jakob's race tactics. i think he'll wind it up off a 56 first lap, but we'll see.
Terrible miss by the starter to not see her hand up
For some bizarre reason, I saw her looking straight down at the ground before firing starter pistol?!
I’ve seen a lot of questionable work by the sprint starting officials. Remember how long they held the men’s 100m final? just standing around? They did the same for SML’s heat that just went. and now they missed an obvious hand up before ‘set’ was called?
This is bush league stuff for a crew that is officiating the biggest track meet in the world.
