Gold medalist 1500M indoors less than 6 months ago doesn't advance out of the steeple heats? That's pretty bad, man. Even if the 1500i was weak this year.
I really didn’t expect Beamish to get pushed out of that heat. That injury he ran through on his NR must have gotten worse. I hope Ritz looks at this year and changes his approach significantly. For all the noise this year from OAC Beamish was the bright spot. Assuming he’s not hurt I hope he gets some big times later this year. Rooks is proving to be tough but in a fast race I don’t see him factoring.
Beamish is leaving this very late, he’s in 7th with 500 to go
The crazy thing is I think he was fine but that’s the worst last 300 I’ve ever seen from him.
Dude - following a troubling pattern we have seen so far these championships from the OAC - just looking like are running on fumes in the final 120m...
Beamish has always had some sort of mental block about keeping his pace up in the second half of the race up until the final lap. It still works fine against lesser competition in flat events. But never really understood why he moved to the steeple since you can't really rip a final lap and make up ground like he likes doing when you've got barriers breaking up your momentum that often.
Kenneth Rooks continues to be just an excellent competitor. Part of that has to just be fitness, but I also noticed a few key moves to put himself where he needed to be, and good water jumps where he needed them. I think he's going to do something impressive in the final. Not sure I have him for top 3, but it doesn't feel impossible.
Does Beamish have a legitimate protest there? He wasn’t even sixth so it won’t matter getting that guy DQed
For what? And I am gutted he hasn't made this final but what protest would there possibly be that could help him? Can't just chalk up every sh-t race to something "not your fault" and file freaking protests haphazardly?
Good lord what a horrible HORRIBLE race from Beamish.
Really disappointing. I’m gutted for him.
Ritz team not showing up here…
I kept waiting for that finish to come in but he just looked so tired. I know he was sick after Pre but he seemed to rally for some solid results in his steeples this year. It's actually really sad that the first Olympics the boys all get to share in together goes so poorly for them. Only slight redemption would be a solid run into the final for Morgan but yeah, not much left can save OAC now. 2024 has been a year to forget.
I’m a fan, but this shouldn’t be a surprise from the coffee club. Listening to their podcast they don’t seem disciplined. Case in point, the fact that Hoare was checking IG messages before the repachage round. Hoping the best for them but Ritz needs to straighten them out.
