The whole crew looked outstanding. The announcers mentioned Littles split at 49.5; can't imagine her being replaced after that.
Does anyone have official splits? The Olympics.com results have splits that make no sense at all
Official splits are very messed up, waiting to see if they release the race analysis for it(didn't for heat 8 of the 100). I doubt they would hesitate to replace Little with Thomas or Mclaughlin if they deside to run but I need to see what Brown split on anchor. 49.5 is solid but not exceptional as far as splits go for the USA.
Ireland could have won that heat if they’d run Adeleke instead of Sophie Becker, who split 51.7. They could be in contention for a medal but they don’t make the final. I really don’t like the decision; Adeleke would have had time to recover from an additional, 90% 49.xx effort.

There's been some heated debate on other channels about Rhasidat Adeleke punting the mixed 4x400m for the women's open race. Ireland lost three seconds with Becker replacing Adeleke on the 2nd leg and probably would have won the heat. Instead, they go home "devastated" and the debate about fielding the best teams to qualify continues.
The WR talk is a little overblown imo. The event is brand new -- of course the record will be improved upon. US got it without running their A Team.
I'm catching up on this thread so I'm sure it's been said but I thought Cranny was tactically horrible. She was full of run & has a good kick. Boxed in at the bell when she wanted to move and then she stayed there the rest of the race, unable to move. She got through because the Japanese athlete fell off & ended up getting Schweizer. But if that was for medals it would've been disappointing.
Tru but i think that is mostly the awkwardness of the heats. Everyone is trying to juggle being a lock for the final vs not going all out. Cranny knows she will need a lot left in the tank to place well in that final vs all those megafast ladies. She will improve tactically in the final running more free.

7x 400m in a week is a bit of an ask
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t thinking about the women’s 4x400. But unless I’m mistaken, they would have had a medal chance in the mixed 4x4 and no chance in the women’s, so maybe scratch the latter event and take your medal opportunities where you find them?
