If Phoebe Gill was in that race she probably would have broken the U18 world record (1:57.18 by Wang Yuan, 1993). Hell we might have seen her beat Reekie for 2nd.
The 3rd brit to finish was 1:56, I'm not sure if any of the americans will be able to medal after seeing this race.
Nia Akins is still really good, and I remain somewhat unconvinced by Reekie for a medal. That form is in the Nijel Amos range of hard-to-watch. The top two look clear, but I see Sekgodiso, Reekie, Gill and Akins all having a chance at bronze.

ah, not necessarily though. Fisher SHOULD win this commandingly, but you could apply that test to US champs, right? Sometimes he is just better in a faster race kicking down.
and there it is -- almost perfectly executed by Fisher, but Lobalu had that little burst in the end
Grant stated after his Trials 5k race he would be racing this London 3k just to "get the wheels spinning".
Thus, rather than take the lead from a few laps out when the pace slowed to 61/lap, Grant positioned himself into first place just prior to the bell then let it rip.
Looks like he closed in 55.10.
Not good enough to match the final laps of the world's best 5k guys, but a perfect "speed" session 13 days out from this Oly 10k race.

Yeah, that was a really fast race. Gill would have definitely benefitted.
In any case, Hodgkinson's set the fastest 800m since Semenya back in 2018 and 6th fastest 800m of all time. She's race-savvy as well, so it's going to be very difficult to beat her in Paris.
Oh my goodness Keely has been having a great year, but after running so fast early in the season I was wondering if she'd peaked. Looks like she's timing it perfectly though. Shame Mu couldn't be at her best this year, it would've been an all time great race, a rematch of 1776 even.
Excited for the mile now a ton of brits and aussies. I'd love to see Hoare take it to show he's ready for the Olympics, but there's a ton of guys I'd like to see win. Also hoping Laros does well.
