Kessler wasn't bad but not great either - at least he was in it this time. Final 100m was underwhelming and getting beat by Holt is embarrassing. I'm hopeful he's gets all of these strange races out of his system and get his brain and body in sync. You could say he's entertaining because he's so unpredictable, and I'll always root for him.
Fisher is always really good at finding where to be without expending too much energy and was pulled to a PR. He's looking ready to go for the trials.
It was solid effort for Wightman and though time wasn't that fast, it was season best. He has such good racing instincts and continues to improve and will be a factor.
This has been an amazing few weeks of races for fans!
You've got to be kidding. Deserves? Sure, there's a lot of people nearby who can fill seats, but this organization can't even provide functional blocks. It was like a high-school meet with people standing on the blocks to keep them from slipping. The danger slipping blocks exposes these athlete to only a few days from the Olympic Trials is unforgivable and certainly doesn't make them deserving of anything but ridicule.
Dude, but if it was hosting Worlds or DL meets or Trials, don't you think those administrative issues would become non issues? Come on man... SMH
We’re witnessing a movie, and it’s still the rising action. HOLTMANIA. Zzz Zzz Zzz. Keep sleeping.
If this was made into a movie, 1980's Crispin Glover would be perfect to play Eric.
I just finally watched this. I actually thought Kessler was in good position in this race, not the early doinking around , but when the real running started he had a pretty clean run especially the last 200m. He just could not punch down that last 110..it looks like he will but stalls at like 80 or so to go? The pacing in this was not good, and It was windy I heard? Not sure why you need two pacers..one to get to 40 seconds , another to get to 1:41? I would say this is more of a solid outing than some discouraging one. Like Scotty, who is a tough grader, I would say this is a solid
B, not some disaster. The pacers got them out in what would have been about, 3:53 mile pace or so thru 700 only and they closed at 3:46 .x mile pace. Not bad running.

How did you watch it? I can't find it anywhere online? A private video from someone at the meet? Thanks.
No, I have 6 days left from a Runnerspace + account I had. USATF stuff is up on that. Tried YouTube, nothing and Wejo link cuts out as it is a pay service link.
Based upon having watched him race locally when he was in high school, through the present, I can theoretically answer that. This guy has zero "quit" in him. He takes failure and being told "you can't" and metabolizes it into motivation as well as anyone I've ever seen. Every time he 'crashes & burns' in a big race, he disappears for awhile, then comes back and starts dropping PR's again inching closer to the top tier guys. Obviously you can't keep doing that forever. Maybe at 29 this last set is as good as it gets for him. But he's fun to watch, and he's good for the sport, so I'm definitely going to keep watching to see where it goes from here.
Incredible, I remember people in our conference were calling him washed back in college because he was running similar times to hs. He came in as a sub 4:10 guy which was almost unheard of in America East just because there was so many other bigger conferences who would take somebody so fast at the time. Just goes to show even the guys considered “burnt out” can keep improving big time. I wonder if he would be the first America East Male Olympian in a track event before.

It was only technically a SB. His Bowerman mile converts to about 3:31 in the 1500m.
Where do you think Wightman will be a factor? At the UK trials? Where he has to compete with Mills and Gourley.
It’s not the training that’s the problem. It’s his awful racing tactics. Dude doesn’t know how to race. That’s the consequence of skipping the NCAA.
I think in the trials he needs to either work with nuguse to make it 3:32 low or better or go to the front and do whatever it takes to lead at the bell which worked out well enough indoors.
Im also not entirely convinced he would benefit so immensely from the ncaa. I don’t quite get the logic there
leading at the bell is more critical indoors due to tight turns, and only means 200m to go. Not sure if it will work for him outdoors with 400m to go and more gradual turns.
