Yeah, very impressed with Mehary. Looks like yet another 12:40s guy within the next few years.
1. Erriyon Knighton, USA - 20.21 WL EN : I beat Grant (Holloway)'s Personal Best, which was my main goal for today. He always thinks he's on the same level as me, but now I could prove otherwise. Running a 200m on a short track was much tougher. It felt more like a 400m race, but I still enjoyed my first indoor race ever. The crowd was incredible. I won't be extending my indoor season. I'm heading back to the United States to prepare for the summer season.
Gudaf is TBD:
Gudaf Tsegay, ETH - 8:17.11 WL EN : It's a very fast time, but I know I was capable of breaking the World Record! The first lap was very fast, but after that, the pace slowed down. My focus is not on the indoor season. I focus on the Olympic Games; it's my big dream. I'm not sure if I'll be competing in the World Indoor Championships, but I wanted to run here in Liévin because I have good memories on this track. I broke the World Record on the 1500m short track here in 2021 and enjoyed racing here again.
Mehary to the front, he's really entered the world stage
But Barega is another level. Completely obliterated everyone the last lap. I think could’ve gone another lap.
Yep very much so for now at least. Ethiopian 5000 team this summer is going to be extremely hard to make, I reckon someone like Gebrhiwet could be better off going to the 10000
I wonder if they'll stage a trials meet like in 2021 but maybe that was because of a lack of other racing opportunities for some that year
I can’t tell the relationship between Knighton and the guy at the finish, but it was hilarious. Looked like Erriyon had bested him in a bet or something. Straight trolling him.
EDIt: Oh he was comforting the guy for walking in the middle of a long jump. Erriyon’s a good guy.
Hard to imagine Tsegay lost a second and missed the WR by passing women on the outside but someone needs to yell at those ladies to get outta the way. Tsegay 8:17.11 !
Damn. WR is 8:16.60 - she ran 8:16.69 last year and now this, just couldn’t find any more pace in the last 400.

I hope they do, and honestly I think they should discourage doubles because Aregawi has not proven trustworthy, nor has Barega.
A 10,000 team of Barega, Aregawi and Gebrhiwet/Worku/Dida.
Then 5000 of Kejelcha, Haile Bekele, Gebriwet/Mehari.
Holloways indoor streak is epic. Let's see if he can extend it one more in that golden adidas kit
I AGREE 100%.
Tim Hutchings must not be aware of ithe streak, right? How in the HELL do you broadcast that event and not say, "This guy has NEVER lost this race in his life." I feel like people should go to the meet just to see that.
Here is a question I have. Has he ever been behind at the 60m mark of the 110 hurdles in his life?
I didn’t think the WR was gonna fall, but making no predictions and then calling out predictions that are way off is the easiest game in the world.
I put it at 30-70 but there was always a chance that after only 3 days rest (including travel), Barega would decide to just run for the win. Also with no Girma in the field (switched to 2k), that likely changed his view of the race as well.
