This is a good decision. She'll have time to train at altitude and focus on peaking at the trials. As for Parker and Olivia and others, more power to them, but I would recommend the same for all.
Where did the idea that NCSU was a poor academic school start? Probably beats out both Duke and UNC as the best school for STEM in North Carolina (with the grad programs being particularly strong).
For ugrad, I don't know much, but the SAT range indicates top ~10-15% of test-takers. Not Ivy+, but a (significantly) above average public school.
ACT score at NC State is 27. UNC is 31. Duke is 33. And Tuohy is in business. People poke fun at the school because the other schools in the area are good while NC State is average and Tuohy is in business which is far below the STEM students. Rumors are that she wasn't able to get into an elite school.
The recent NCAA schedule has not exactly been demanding. She's raced 5 times in 6 months.
July 9 - Usatf 5000 - 7th
Nutty - 2nd
Acc - 1 st course record
NCAA reg - 1st course record
NCAA xc - 5th
She will be running much harder as she bumps up to pro training.
During the track season she’d race a bunch more. It’s a lot of races especially if you are team-first and versatile. She raced 14 times by my count between January 28 and June 10.

NC State is ranked 60th in the country among all colleges and universities by USNWR. If that is average then there are a metric ton of really, really sh!t schools out there.
Either this getting that pro contract before her stock sinks or she really is at a point where she needs to train like a real pro to make the next leap.
This is true. And neither of them will ever be good enough to make a global team. But they sure do draw attention.
I don't get this. Both Tuohy and Valby are faster now than Monson, Cranny and Schweitzer were at that age. Why is it assumed that Valby and Tuohy will not similarly improve as pros?
Nothing is guaranteed, but it's reasonable to think that Tuohy and Valby will have some future window of pro success.
Because the low-life incel reprobates who produce most of the posts here* look for any possible excuse to insult, demean, mock, and belittle any runner who gets any attention --*especially* when that runner is female.
(*NOTE: This does *not* mean most of the people who follow or read. Actually, the majority of them on the whole --as indicated by a number of objective signals, like the ratings on posts on this thread-- would seem to be pretty decent and rational folks.
But the relatively small number of basement dwelling, self-hating, malicious, deeply-demented sad-sacks who spend much of their time on Earth posting gratuitous hate on internet-forums produce a majority of the board content here, and consequently it *feels* like it's a giant cesspool filled with really God-awful human beings, when actually they're a fairly small minority.)
(The JoBros, of course, could substantially fix this problem with one simple act, but choose not to, because they clearly think this sickness is somehow better for their business.)

Thanks for the support, but could you tell us how you really feel.🤔
She went to the program with the best shot at having a winning team where she could thrive both athletically and academically. If you know her past her HS record in both departments had the opportunity to pick any program of her choice, which I suspect would include Harvard and Stanford. Her choice of NC State was a combination of going to a program where she already knew, among others, Kelsey from her NY experiences, had a strong female coach, had the culture where she could thrive, was a ‘warm climate’ and a reasonably good school where she could further her education. She knew that if all these factors came together with the luck of no career ending injury she could maximize her contribution to the team and get ready for a productive pro career. There are no guarantees but if she progresses the same rate of her HS/College period she could have a good and long career. If this includes making multiple US and Olympic teams only time will tell but as long as her work ethic and talent evolve along with surrounding herself with good friends and coaches she just might surprise a bunch of folks here who repeatedly point out that the world’s best is still a good deal ahead of her PR’s. Even if she doesn’t break into the East African performance levels for some time she should have a good shot at breaking a bunch of US benchmarks and possibly become a world class marathoner or triathlete.
