I was just wondering are women just better range-wise than men? How many sub-3:30 guys have also run 12:45/26:30/2:04? Or maybe it's something to do with shoes or training? Jakob is probably gonna end up with top 5 times in every event at least through the half marathon, and Kiplimo's at 7:26/12:41/57:31.
Women are NOT better range wise than men. This subject is somewhat complicated. The depth of women is still not anywhere near the men. Remember range is a relative concept. So depth is the primary reason for the appearance of better range among the women.
I’ve never understood the amazement with Hassan’s range. Obviously managing the fatigue to be able to medal in 3 events in a single championship is incredible. But PR-wise, when a sub-elite man with a 14:20 5k PR also runs 3:50 for 1500 and 2:18 marathon, we think absolutely nothing of it.
Dillu is 17, so not eligible for sr. World champs. Minimum age is 18.
