Fairport is entered in the Manhattan meet this year.
This was a long time ago (Apr 1 2023)
But St Anthony is returning these 5k times from this race
Morelli - 16:12
Wigutow - 16:41
Melloy - 16:41
McLaughlin - 16:49
Ciaccio - 17:25
Curley - 17:39
Kennedy - 18:31
Appears they were missing MacPherson (one of their top 5 from last year and is returning)
Big 5k PR for Wigutow though. Did not break 18 in previous XC seasons, but ran a sub-16:50 here.
Saratoga Springs boys team returning 1600 times
4:22
4:22
4:26
4:29
4:30 (by Brandriss who ran a 9:39 3200)
I know 1600 is different than 5k, but How would this team do at nationals?
MWXC (monroe Woodbury) Crusader Kickoff 2023 will be on September 2
VVS invitational entries
Based on this, looks like Saratoga’s Brandriss (9:39 3200) is doing XC
This is going to add a boost to the lineup and increase their chances of making NXN
"Corning won their 3rd consecutive State Title (we're counting the COVID year here, run unofficially)"
Interesting comment in the MileSplit write-up for their overall boys preview this year. If I remember correctly Saratoga, Liverpool, and Saranac Lake were the top NY teams at the Northeast CC Champs. Corning performed very well during the winter cross season and were probably the top team at that point, but to say they "won the state title" in 2020 (even unofficially) might be pushing it.
With Brandriss doing XC I think Saratoga becomes a clear favorite in Class A. If Corning are good enough to make it through Ithaca they're probably good enough to challenge for an NXN spot but I don't see them closing the speed rating gap enough if Saratoga is adding a 9:39 guy.
Niskayuna results at Hoka
Everybody is sleeping on Auburn.
Howard and Brady ran 4:18 (full mile) and 1:55, respectively. Those are big-boy times; they will be much improved over last year. Maher and Gasper were freshmen last year; they will be significantly faster this year just by showing up. Ferrin ran 53 minutes at the Boilermaker; huge improvement. They have additional depth, and will be a very tough "out" in NYS this Fall.
Yeah Saratoga ended up as the best team in NY overall in 2020 at Northeast CC Champs. They found a 5th man there which helped.
Liverpool was a 5th man away from becoming the best team in NY.
Saranac Lake was also very good
This one shows both Nisky and Shen results at Hoka
Boys
It seems like all these rankings on those websites have Fairport at #1 for the boys in NY.
Corning should be top 5 for the boys. They return 4 guys under 10 minutes.
“It would, of course, be no surprise to see Saratoga Springs punch a ticket to Portland. After all, that's what coaches Linda and Art Kranick have done plenty of times.”
… but the boys team has a different coach.
Monroe Woodbury had their first race
