The Gear legacy continues in Fayetteville as Krissy's younger cousin Madeleine Gear has declared to run for the Razorbacks just like her professional cousin did. Madeleine is the 1600 meter state champion in Florida and has run 2:11/4:49/10:45. Im not completely sure whats going on with her high school status for her senior year as shes no longer with Cambridge Christian and I havent seen her race much but I guess none of that matters now...
Anthony Fasthorse will be an Oregon Duck next fall. Excited he chose the Duck's. Was a little shocked that Cal Poly was a top 5 for him when the other programs in his final list are top tier programs.
I’m sure he is a nice guy but Cal Poly is not on the same level as Oregon and OSU. I know a lot of CA fan guys don’t like that honesty but Cal Poly is not a top tier running program.
There's a 16 year old Dutch girl named Abigail Noruwa who deserves recruiting attention for that class. She is very scrappy like Amina Maatoug, albeit markedly different body types and events.
Noruwa was a sprint hurdler who started experimenting with longer distances and quickly won the Dutch U18 championships last summer. Not a great time but the close reveals how tenacious she is, splitting traffic to move from 3rd to 1st within the final meters:
Noruwa recently attended a 2-day camp at Papendal, training alongside the national team and going through the battery of tests. Meuwly and Peters must have steered her toward 400 hurdles because all of a sudden she's running that event for the first time. Her debut a couple of weeks ago was a respectable 1:01.36 and today in her second try she dropped 2 full seconds to 59.35. That is 4th in the world at U18 for 2023.
I'm mentioning her here because I'm not sure many American college programs are aware of her. That versatility and 400 hurdles trajectory could be very valuable. Noruwa is listed on Slamstox as aspiring to the Class of 2024 and a major track and field program. She does need to work on her grades a bit, given 2.8 GPA as of a year ago:
Noruwa made the European U20 final and dropped her personal best into the 57s. Now it looks like she might be interested in Utah. She posted an Instagram story a couple of weeks ago while attending Utah hosting UCLA. That must have been a recruiting trip. She followed it by reposting two Instagram stories of women on the Utah cross country team.
Noruwa now follows Utah Track and Cross Country on Instagram.

So that we all can understand, please define exactly what makes a running program 'top tier. thanks!

not from california and never said it was a top tier program. You said you were shocked that they were in a top 5 with those schools. Just giving a reason. Vanhoy recruited well to Ole Miss and is recruiting well now because he's a good coach and his runners seem to like him. Obviously not enough to put Cal Poly over the top against these great programs for a truly elite recruit but Chris Caudillo was a big get this past class to show it can work.
Newington's Katherine Bohlke is headed to Virginia Tech. Bohlke is a CT state champion and a two time New England's Champion. She has run 2:15/4:49/6:42/10:38. That third mark is a 2k steeplechase mark and was the 5th fastest in the country that year. Kid also high jumps so shes pretty versatile.

How could a distance runner possibly keep any explosion in their legs for a high jump? I get that their could be significant talent overlap, but the training seems completely opposite.

Angelina Napolean, the 2023 Girls National Gatorade Player of the Year, has a 5'6" high jump PR. My guess is that part of what tipped in her favor for receiving the award over other top high school girls was her versatility over both track and field.
