Art History (phd) and no I am not!
If you want to trade Fentanyl for Meth do OKC is for you!
I live in Dallas but have projects in the OKC area so I'm up there a few
times a year. It is not a half bad city. Lots of old art deco buildings
and some nice old neighborhoods give it a bit of character and there
are several good breweries and restaurants. My wife and I joke we may
move to OKC when we get priced out of Dallas, which has become very,
very expensive but probably not Seattle expensive. In reality we would
probably choose Tulsa over OKC as there is some nice topography and more
trees in Tulsa in addition to some great breweries and really good
parks plus Tulsa is pretty close to the mountains of Arkansas.
Politically, its a red state but in the cities there are more liberal
people so you can find whatever group of friends you're looking for. The
weather is going to be the biggest shock for you. The winters will be
colder than Seattle with 2 or 3 ice storms a year but overall, much less
rain. The summers are brutal for running. Upper 90s to over 100 during
the day and it doesn't cool down much at night, maybe 78-80 degrees at
6am for July, Aug and September. It generally cools down by
Thanksgiving.
