because of covid there have been more fifth-year seniors in all sports than ever before. But it's nothing new; I did it 40 years ago.

Has anyone done any research into the guys on the MIT team? Pretty suspicious stuff here if you ask me. Mah, Kearney and Wilson all should have graduated this past fall. Are they being allowed to take 5th years in order to keep running? Not sure whats going on but if these guys are being allowed to do this for sports seems like the antithesis of what MIT claims to be about. This begs the question: are the MIT athletes getting to take easier classes/take shortcuts in order to boost their performances?
Yeah, this seems suspicious. I don't know anything about this MIT college, (Is it a baseball glove sewing school?) but it seems unlikely that they'd have students trying for post graduate degrees.

It does not look like Wilson is going to help MIT this season anyways. He’s either focusing on track or got sick/injured based off his pre-nationals performance. He fell off MIT’s lead pack almost immediately.

Good point, those MIT kids might be getting an advantageously low work load to spend more time running. I’ve heard that school is notorious for easy classes, athletic admissions support and low-achieving kids. It’s unfair they get to compete with schools like Wartburg, NCC, Loras, John Carrol, some of the UW’s, Williams, etc. where the kids are taking their academic pursuits more seriously.
Speaking of these purely academic institutions, I heard Wartburg may go for the 1-5 sweep at regionals this year (15 points) to reflect their average ACT score for admissions
Indeed, there are legal and anti-competitive ramifications to MIT's policy of making all freshman classes pass-fail, yet another strike against a real New England education such as you might get at a place like Williams. It was bad enough to offer gut courses in faux fields such as "management," "nuclear science and engineering," and "Media Arts and Sciences," but at least hand out grades.
Alright, your comment made me laugh, but Williams shouldn’t be compared to those colleges. One actually prepares students for jobs (I’ve worked with a fair amount of Williams alums) while the others graduate people if they’re literate

Very nice of you to add how many points 1-5 sweep gets. I've heard that addition isn't taught until senior year at Wartburg, so the joke probably would've been lost on them otherwise.
Illinois Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology - what’s the difference? They’re both named after states and are “institutes of technology”.

I thought y’all were talking about the famous Michigan Institute of Technology.

Kirkpatrick only looked fair last week at the PP invite. He was 3rd in 24:58. Hoping for improvement this weekend.
this'll be the first time the top womens teams see each other as well - wartburg and chicago at auggie, geneseo and hopkins at rowan. should be a lot of fun.
Except Hopkins top men and women are racing at Virginia in a loaded d1 field. So we'll have to wait a little longer.
