Keely is really good, but we don’t really have a reason to think she is that close to beating Mu. I know people want this to be a classic rivalry. Right now Mu basically just has toyed with her 800 competition including Keely in their two matchups. Today going 56.6, 31 and then dropping 29 low looking easy just seems above Keelys skill-set.
Armstronglivs purpose in life is to shame anyone who thinks Athing Mu is really good.
I don't have to shame anyone. You can do it all by yourself.
Mu has tremendous speed, as her 400 shows, but is not an endurance-based athlete, as her mile efforts show. She reminds me more of a Korir or Amos than a Coe. I think it could be closer between her and Hodgkinson than some here tend to think.

I don't think either has peaked. I think the question will be which of them improves more.
Hard to say based on this race. Everyone else faded and Athing just cruised to victory. She makes it look so effortless. Makes you wonder if she could have kicked it into another gear if anyone was even remotely close to her during the last 100m.
No, they all faded. Mu lost (slowed) 3.8s on lap 2, it's just that Lamote lost 4.9s. Link to splits:
Ok... let me reset and more clearly articulate my point.
- I agree that Athing slowed on the second lap and unless she's in shape to get the WR right now this was inevitable when they split in 56.6
- This does not prove that she does worse in rabbited races... It's just a byproduct of the pacer taking the first lap to fast.
-If we consider a positive split a fade then I have to concede that Athing Mu faded.
-However, a well ran 800m often includes a positive split
-Hard to account for what was physiologically occurring in Athing Mu's body at the moment, but she didn't seem to be at full effort for the last 150m.
-My perception was that she could have ran a low 1:56 yesterday if she was pushed or challenged in any way... so yes, she faded, but I also think that some of that fade can be attributed to the fact that she eased up... no need for her to go deep into the well in a early diamond league meet when she's 20 meters ahead of the competition and running the WL time.
Provided Ajee is in 2019 shape. Biggest x factors for top 3 in the world to me are reekie, and rogers.
I thing when Mu, Wilson and Keely are fit they don't lose to the rest of the field normally
1. Athing Mu
2. Ajee Wilson
3. Keely
4. Rogers
5. Goule
6. Reekie
I can't see Ajee beating Keely unless something goes wrong for her. Reekie's form isn't encouraging and I'm starting to worry she may not even make the team. Another curious question is whether Allie Wilson is going to do another good run as she hasn't backed up her fast time yet.

Totally forgot about Allie. I got to see her live last year. She's a beast.

Keely is better than Ajee.
Goule and Reekie are unpredictable. Could run great, could run poorly.
Allie Wilson ran her 1:58 PB a month ago. The very next week she backed up her fast 800 with a 4:06 PB in the 1500, which is fast for an 800 specialist.
Then she ran the 1500 even faster a few days ago in 4:05. That's 3 PB's in one month. Allie Wilson is doing just fine.
And I realize you dumbasses don’t get sarcasm and someone is about to rock up to “inform” me that Mu is born in the US like I don’t know.
Your sarcasm is really lame. How is that sarcasm? Please educate yourself.
“American born” has long been used on this board as a euphemism for white runners when people want to mask their racism by pretending it’s just about nationality.

There’s truth in that. “American born” is similar to and opposite of “immigrant” that implicitly means a non-white immigrant coz if you are white, you know, you are somehow not that different from most people here whose ancestors came from Europe. No one tells a white immigrant to “go back to where you came from”.
