What happened to the idea he was going to sponsor a cross country team ? What happened to his livestream? He hasn’t done one for quite awhile. Also didnt we all vote on a DGR logo? Where is the race singlet he was going create with the DGR logo on it. so many ideas but no follow through. Maybe he is going through something. He keeps mentioning reading the room.
So here's the scoop with the logo situation. Seth thought he'd get people to help him design a logo, he'd make sure it was DGR approved so he could generate some good merch sales with the fanbase, and also be able to use it to solidify his brand even more and use it for different ideas in the future. He forgot the part where graphic designers like to be paid for their work and ideas. Seth hadn't planned on compensating anyone, which obviously caused issues when it came up and an agreement could not be reached. So now the whole thing is on the backburner, and honestly he might just move on without ever mentioning it again. If he ever does come up with a logo, it won't be the ones you saw during the contest.
This is such a classic SJD move. I, like many others, was a loyal vlog fan and enjoyed rooting for the guy. I still can't fully decide if I just woke up from the hypnosis or if he really has just totally lost it. I honestly wasn't too concerned with the membership program. In my view, he does do a lot of work for the channel and if people want to support it by paying for emojis, then so be it.
However, things started to get a little weird for me when he was so stubbornly sticking with his terrible shoe review system. It truly makes no sense and is incredibly inconsistent. He also started only reviewing shoes that he was sent for free. I somewhat understand this, but he also built his "brand" on doing reviews for his audience. I also started to find it quite off-putting that he so frequently would openly ask for free things from both companies and viewers. By this point, he was already getting sent a lot of free gear and a large portion of his content was him just opening packages. His attitude had clearly gone from, "I'm grateful for this opportunity" to "Your product isn't worthy to be reviewed if you don't send it to me." Add on that he started to make numerous statements that showed he does not do the training research he claims to and things were pretty much done for. The final nail was the constant excuses. Again, he built his "brand" on a no excuses mentality.
Genuine fans don't dislike someone succeeding. There is no denying that Seth worked very hard the first few years of building the channel. I think he deserved the success, and I don't think there are so many people who stopped watching his content because he was successful. I think they stopped watching because he either let the success change him too drastically, or because he never was who he claimed to be.
I thought the idea of turning a tiny outdoor shed into a studio was great. It was all very wholesome. Getting ice cream with the family to celebrate? Who doesn't love that. It was nice to see a hard-working guy getting some love from the brands for putting out some decent videos, even if the review methodology was a little off. Still a great way to "see" the latest shoes. Race videos were cool, mountain scenery was awesome. For me it shifted with the new house, and seemed to be more about growing the subscriber base. The average person doesn't know too much about training... of course getting out the door for a little exercise each day is going to help people out. It's just that you can't put one past the LetsRun community. You can't appeal to both the masses and the niche competitive community.
Classic trap! Starting making a bit of scratch and then spent it on superfluous and superficial things. As the Buddhists warn, he has become a slave to his possessions and has chosen ignorant clinging over enlightenment and happiness.
Kilians Pikes Peak win/time probably works counter to your argument then as he flew in, won in a faster time and bounced to the next thing whereas Seth spent a whole block at altitude and working out specifically for the race.
Also, we’re talking about Kilian 3 years ago. Based on that Zegama effort and how they crushed the climbs, I’d say he looks to have found another gear, or dare I say, a new NNormal.
Not really. Kilian isn’t dropping 30 sec per mile from his previous time. He just isn’t.
Remember when a month ago he started talking about Ryan Hall's book, but admitted he hadn't finished it yet, and never discussed it again? Oh well, I'm guessing someone mailed in a free hat or something, and he got too distracted to finish the book.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees the absurdity of the multiple camera angles for mundane things like backing out of the garage. Obviously he has to do it, then open the garage again to get the camera and then leave again for real. Same thing with the trail running shots. Wish he would put that energy into some decent content instead of all the time wasted showing people eating eggs or opening cabinets.
Many of the nature shots on the runs are incredible for some of us who can't run in the mountains.
And the multiple shots of over sized portions and people talking with their mouth full of food is great for us who can't eat that much as we want to remain a healthy weight.

This is your third post on this, without any actual point. You’re that insufferable guy at a party who thinks he knows a lot about a topic, but the more you speak the more you reveal you are a just an idiot who knows nothing. Stop now. Kilian is in another league from Seth. Whatever point you think you’re making about the elevation at PP, or whatever your point is, you just sound like a tool.

RESPONSE OF THE DAY!!!!! you just buttered my bread with that description of Seth (even though it was meant for someone else)
It’s not about him finding 30 seconds per mile, the point was Kilian can come in, run faster and go off to do another race in a couple of weeks whereas Seth spends 3-4 months training specifically for the race, at altitude, doing everything he can to win this one race and is still slower.
The cherry on top is that he (Seth, and his hype man TL) think that via his own Seth math/logic, that he is as fast as Kilian. Zegama showed anyone with an ounce of sense that his literally scared of facing off with him. He will make up things to avoid going head to head.
Not gonna lie. That Parkclaw G 280 looks like a contender in my world, so I'll give this one a watch. I can do without the ragged freshman-year shorts, though, so here's hoping.
