I'm sorry, I respect the guy and have empathy for what his country is going through; but pull it together man.
Maybe one day of this would have been acceptable, but this has been going on for like a month.
I'm a former Army officer, and even in combat zones, it was imperative for senior leadership to not look like they are so out of control they cannot shave, wear clean clothes, do personal hygiene etc. Officers shaved in combat, tried to get haircuts when available, wore clean clothes when available etc.
We expected our generals to have the highest standards of personal appearance. They would never have walked around in a t shirt, unshaven like this for over a month.
Also, when the US willfully destroys its own petro dollar for your cause, you better have the decency to speak to us in a suit.
Thoughts?
I'd rather have a guy that looks like he's out there trying to save his country than someone all dressed up looking all smart. Generals are also far from the front so they are able to have a few more amenities than a soldier that is boots on the ground and in the thick of it.
It is nice that the US officers can look so nice, have great haircuts, and shave. It might be a little better if they could get some victories. Last time I looked:
Korea: ended in a ceasefire No winner/loser
Vietnam: US sent home in defeat
Iraq: Not really a victory other than removing Saddam
Afghanistan: Got thoroughly trounced but to be fair no one can seem capable of winning there. Sure, you could win some battles but you never controlled the country. Plus, why did you stay there 10 more years after getting Osama? Americans like war that much?
