Lol so the two guys who "broke Dathan's record" at Running Lane ran over a minute slower here, and ran 45s slower than Dathan did. Hough's winning time is only better than 2 guys over the last decade. Really makes you think the NB Park guys would not even be close to Dathan.
Ritz ran footlocker when it was in Florida
LOL this is why comparing XC times is a fool's errand. All we know is that the NBP guys are some of the best all time. We'll need to see their track times to place them more accurately.

Dathan never ran at Balboa so not sure how this is relevant.
It IS relevant though that both Hough and Ritz ran the same state meet course, and Hough really didn't get close to Ritz's 14:10. Balboa isn't a comp, but MIS is.
If Hough wins today and finishes right with the NP boys at Running Lane, yet can't sniff Ritz's jock... Ritx is still easily the GOAT.
Hard to believe Balboa and RL are the same length given the minute difference in times. Balboa ran tough today. Sherry looked like he was still suffering 10-15 minutes after the run. To a man, they all referenced how tough it was out there today.
Again, look at my thread. 66 second average difference in the men's race between Balboa and running lane. Cheserek would've run aprx 13:46 at running lane!

…and Rubin Reina 13:35 (lol)
You might, or perhaps I will, look at some historical results for VCP vs Balboa park for the NE runners. Off the top of my head I think that will show Balboa Park ran a bit slow today.

You have to think Reina might have run 14:21 at Balboa with the super shoes.

It’s really a shame that the Youngs and Sahlmans did not run today. Eastbay should have handed out some auto qualifiers based on RL performance and merge it with the west regional result. Get creative. Not having 3/5 top runners in the country compete today is just a bummer. They’re all just sitting at home like 90 minutes away by car.

Ok, you are right. 13:21 for arena at Running Lane

lol you have no idea how far Newbury Park is from SD....more like 2.5 to 3 hours traffic depending. CA is a big place
*Reina
Sorry, you’re right, 90 min x 2. That’s not the point, is it?

Ritz beat Hall by 20 seconds, NP guys beat Hall's Woodward park time by 20+ seconds at the same state meet course.
Ritz still the XC goat. Reasonable comparison point could be solinsky, who ran Balboa in 14:41 after a 14:49 at Midwest. Ritz was 14:35 at Midwest and then 14:35 at nationals (in Florida).
Safe to say he gets at least a few seconds on Solinsky at Balboa, likely obliterating anyone who wanted to step.
Where is Cook going to college?
Hough is going to Michigan State?
Who is the guy that put the wreath on Hough?

Lindgren would have had Ritz on his face 20m from the finish line instead of after it.

And everyone else flew for twice that time.
All this arguing - but no one realizing that selemon barega ran 12:43 as an under 20. None of these boys - newbury park included will ever be competitive in real races
