Please get your facts straight before claiming the 'national 5k' high school record has been broken!
Why didn't you measure it before proclaiming it??
Don't ask him about his facts, before you have yours. Unbelievable.

Course is wheeled and measured exactly 5km. The NCAA D1 South Regional was also held on this exact course. It's 5k
How was it measured, center of the course?

Look at the results from smaller races on this course. They're fast because it's a fast course, but they aren't unbelievable. When you take hundreds of the best runners in the country and give them perfect conditions on a very fast course and create a championship environment, kids will run fast times. GPS and wheeling data corroborates that it is a true 5k. Of course nothing is 100% accurate, but when you combine the body of evidence, it becomes clear that the course is a true 5k. There is not a single piece of evidence to dispute this claim with the exception of this joker who claims he wheeled the course 75 meters short. Hutchins and Wachtel both ran much faster 5000m times on a track 3 weeks after RunningLane last year. Sahlman and the Youngs ran very similar converted times at Woodbridge to their RunningLane times. The sport is growing, and there will be athletes who accomplish the previously unthinkable . The course is a true 5k, and to convince yourself otherwise is to deny facts in favor of preconceived notions of what is possible.
When hundreds of kids have lifetime PRs from 20 to a minute plus, including SIX sub 15:00s in the "Silver" race you aren't skeptical?
What wheeling and GPS data have you seen?
No one know WTF they're doing around here. Just post and proclaim fastest race ever run with no true facts. Then do nothing when people ask actual questions for facts....
Nfhs and ncaa officials assisted. It is measured on the shortest point.
When did NFHS and the NCAA begin employing surveyors?
I call B.S. NFHS doesn't even have language in place as to their recommended process like they do with a track measurement.

Wait are you actually claiming that Ritz was a superior junior cross country runner than Jakob Ingerbritsen? You must be joking. One placement at one meet that was far less competitive in the early 2000s is not a justification for comparison. That’s like saying that Cheptegei isn’t as good as Billy Mills because Cheptegei got 2nd in Tokyo and Mills won.
Ritz never ran an equivalent performance to Sahlmans 14:03 and that is easy compare as we have lots of data from both meets. Could Ritz have won yesterday hypothetically? Maybe so, but if he did, it would have been his best achievement of his prep career.
Also I would be interested to see how 2019 Nico Young would have compared on this course considering his margin of victory at NXN over such an amazing class that year.
Another tangent about speed ratings. Nico got a 205 for nxn, probably not even top 20 all time. How was what he did not a top 20 performance? It was top 5 easily.
- Set a course record by 7 seconds in abysmal conditions with rain and mud.
- Beat maybe one of the deepest fields ever by minimum 14 seconds. We can talk all we want about ritz beating hall and Webb, who had fantastic careers but its not like they had crazy hsxc resumes.
Nico beat:
Josh Methner--FL Champion, 3-mile AT number 2 at the time (set on a course run multiple times by Virgin and LV) by 14 seconds.
Cole Sprout--8:40 3200, 4:04 mile, 3rd at NXN as a junior, 14:16 5k AT number 4 at the time by 18 seconds
Ryan Schoppe--14:14 5k AT number 2 at the time by 28 seconds
Also Nico got docked like 10 points for being 4 seconds behind German in a not all-out effort because Woodward park is "running faster"
Nico was all out in both his 14:28s. The narrative that he would’ve run so close to German’s record and not break it so he can save energy is silly. He won by 25 seconds. He wanted to conserve energy, he could’ve run a lot slower.
Rule❒9 Cross Country
SECTION 1 COURSE
Measurement shall be along the shortest possible route a runner may take. The
course shall be clearly marked. This may be by a wide line marked with a mater-
ial which is not injurious to the eyes or skin, or by signposts with large directional
arrows wherever the course turns
Why does it matter how it was measured when there’s only a line on the course. No flags no fence no barriers. You can basically run inside where they measured the whole way round
It is a double lined course and mowed. Running outside of the lines is a DQ and in longer grass.

Lol.... you DQ the entire field.

Yep, no process as I have stated.
So how close to the inside boundary lines did your NFHS and NCAA people measure?

Is that a new NFHS rule, or an Alabama rule, or something that was stated for this meet?
A lot of the course had people standing on the lines, but you bring up a great point!
Does anyone have any photos of the starting line?
I found this from 2020, but was wondering about the startling line this year.

Because obviously you know how he felt way better than he does.
Winner of the silver race came in with a seed of 14:42 and finished in 14:50. He dropped to the silver from the gold to run with his team. Guys like Miles Brush and Walker St. John, both top commits (Kentucky and UNC) did not PR. This race was not a guaranteed PR, but the course, atmosphere, and competition provided the ideal setup for PRs. Most PRs were between 0-30 seconds. PRs of more than 30 seconds were relatively uncommon. Look at the results for yourself. Go the the Strava segment and look at the data from yesterday for yourself. I would pay you if you found data that says it’s short. I personally know multiple coaches who have wheeled the course. The course is used for NCAA south regionals. The RunningLane website gives a detailed explanation of how the course was measured. It is willfully ignorant to claim the course was short without finding evidence to back up that claim.

I have not seen this information. Can you share a link to it?
Top two guys at FL MW ran :39 and :46 quicker in Alabama than Wisconsin, top girl was :26 quicker!
I am surprised that they didn't drop more time. I have run both courses and would expect as much as a 1 minute drop.
