This entire thread seems to be by people born yesterday. The f—-ing happens all the time. I had a teammate go from 4th to 59th in the last 200m of a xc conference meet because he ran himself into the ground. He had blood work done and nothing was wrong.
It happened to a guy from Colorado Mines who was leading the race with a mile+ left to go and a girl in the D2 race right at the finish today but nobody is talking about that.
We are only are talking about it because it was Cooper Teare. And hopefully it isn’t a medical issue.
It’s happened to cheptigai, Jenny Simpson collapsed. Anything can happen in XC.
I’ll add to your anecdotal notes. My father was a healthy 60 year old. He gets the covid vax and 6 weeks later is magically diagnosed with cancer. It happens to be a rare form of cancer that the doctors had never seen it’s location before. Coincidence? I mean he took the experimental covid vax that impacts ones immune system. Three months later my dad passed. Again a shock to the doctors whom thought he still may have a few years. So you know what all you experimental mandate covid vaxxers can go pound sand. Because you’re evil people.
So true. I knew a guy that got vaxed. He was dead 2 weeks later. Got hit by a truck. No way I'm getting vaxed!
Pineapple-Really sorry to hear about what happened to your father. A friend of my Father's was badgered into getting the jab by his wife-he was completely against it. He ended up getting a breakthrough infection that darn near killed him. His wife had cancer years ago, that has since been in remission. About a month after getting the second jab-her cancer strangely came back. Coincidence-maybe, maybe not! Unfortunately, these sorts of issues are not reported, or talked about as a 1 in a million chance of occurring. No thanks-I'll take my chances with Covid any day!
10k on grass is what separates the men from the boys I guess

So this is another antivaxx thread now? As if no one ever collapsed before in a race prior to the covid vaccine. I'm sure most people here remember Todd Williams collapsing in in the 1997 USTAF 5K final.
Without Hocker by his side this season, he was doomed.
I was there and the conditions were not cool. By midpoint of the mens race it felt really warm, and the humidity levels weren't super low. Florida near the Gulf side.
In the NCAA video he predicted this. 18:10 mark
He said they were out in 4:15. That might help to explain some things. That’s about 26:20 pace.

Yep, that's the Cheptegei jog at 2017 World Cross. Difference is that Chepetegei got to the finish before he had to crawl. Both went too hard for their fitness.
Those turning this into a vaccine/eating/pre-existing medical issue thing don't know running.

Not considering Bob Kennedy, U.S. was awful at 5000m, 1997. Kennedy raced a 13:3x 5000m and no one was near him. If a U.S. 5000m runner races 13:3x at USTAF now, there would be four or five guys and a photo finish.
Like Rono in 1978 NCs XC where he was 5th from last
It’s astonishing anyone would say he was faking this, how on earth would you practice that? His legs are literally giving out. Enough with the hate for Nike, Oregon, Teare. He has had a STELLAR career so far and this will only propel him further. LIke it or not, Teare isn’t going anywhere and this just proves he’s got character. Good luck in your future Cooper.
On a side note: the running community needs to stop being so vile. This is a multi time national champion you are talking about and someone who barely missed out on the olympics. Imagine if others in their countries talked this way about their athletes. I find it disgusting to put anyone down in our sport who is just competing. Get a life. You have to be pretty sad to root against your own countrymen who are just out there competing because they love the sport.

Was it 90 plus degrees and humid as all get out in yesterday's race?

For what it's worth, he just got the COVID booster 2 weeks ago.
It's not worth anything!
STFU!
Any chance the booster was the reason for this?
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
