If Sydney now has a 2 second differential between her 400 and 400h, then that means she is in 48.68 shape today. (50.68 - 2.00 = 48.68). That's not the case.
Having just watched the 4x4: LMAO. She may or may not be a doper - I have no respect for choosing to have a steroid coach and then spouting religious guff in every interview so jury's out for me - but she's easily in 48 mid shape.
Agreed AutologousMadness. If I was an elite athlete, I would check out my coach thoroughly to make sure he/she doesn't have a shady past. This way, people will not associate your incredible times with P.E.D.'s!!!!!!
I came across an interesting article by Lee Benson in the Deseret News from back in 1989. The article was written after FloJo suddenly retired. In his m ind, this made no sense. The fact that she's just retire was very suspicious. In the article, he writes that Carl Lewis apparently told people that he knew Flo-Jo was on drugs.
Benson wrote:
In Philadelphia, Carl Lewis told a group of students at the University of Pennsylvania that he knew, "from some very reliable sources," that Flo-Jo used male-hormone steroids in 1988.
And in Washington, D.C., at a steroid-investigation meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee, before- and after-pictures from a West German track magazine were presented as evidence of the kind of dramatic steroid-induced changes that can occur in a human body. The pictures, with the head cropped off, were of Ms. Joyner's body, in 1985 and 1988. No one on the committee believed they were of the same person, or that the second photo was a woman.
It’s one of the very few conspiracy theories that I believe in. I think FGJ was essentially forced to retire, perhaps by USOC or some testing authority, either because she tested positive at the 1988 Olympics, or anti-doping authorities had similar evidence against her that was very strong.
There was no other good reason for her to retire. She was utterly dominant and was at the top of her game, she was very beautiful, and would be guaranteed to make tens of millions in just a few years.
Whatever the equivalent of WADA was at the time probably believed the sport could not abide the top two sprinters both testing positive at the same Olympics after mind-bending performances. Remember there are a great many people earning their living off these athletes. No one wanted FGJ to be found out.
I don't doubt that Syd's differential has improved since her last year (2018) of competing both, but from 2.7 to 1.6? Not buying it. Two seconds, MAX. And back to 2.5-2.7 if she focuses on the 400.
It's obvious that you don't fully understand the math of what you wrote regarding differentials. (I know you think you understand, but you actually don't.)
If Sydney now has a 2 second differential between her 400 and 400h, then that means she is in 48.68 shape today. (50.68 - 2.00 = 48.68). That's not the case. You will see what I mean when Sydney runs a flat 400 sometime in the next few weeks. She won't be running 48.68 or faster.
And a 2.5 to 2.7 differential would mean she would run a 400 in the 48.18 to 47.98 range. That's unlikely to ever happen. But even if it did at some point in the future, all that means is that Sydney could run a 400h much faster than her current 50.68, which would then reduce the differential back to around 1.7.
Once Sydney learned how to hurdle really well leading with either leg, got her steps right, and started taking 14 steps between hurdles up to hurdle seven, that 2.7 second differential of hers went out the window permanently.
So if I understand correctly, nothing Sydney McLaughlin runs for 400 flat or 400 hurdles could possibly be suspicious?
Bumping this thread since USATF has tabbed Bobby Kersee as one of the point men for their newest same old thing, the LA Grand Prix. I guess Justin Gatlin and the Ross family are busy that weekend.
How many years in the wilderness until AlSal can be meet director for a USATF Distance Carnival? Or maybe even Marathon Trials (provided it's in a Siegel-approved city)?
That is what I really like about the The Track and Field News Message Board. They don't allow stuff like this. You can't just post stuff on that message board without any proof. The posts would be deleted, and you will be banned.
Bobby has been known as a drug coach since the early 80s.Nothings changed.Meanwhile sydney looks more like a man, every season.Jaw has changed,brow,5 oclock shadow, adams apple, muscles, its all there. My best friend saw a pic of sydney and thought she was a guy.Another friend thinks she shaves her face. And youre right.USA track and field doesnt care about doping.
Name a Kersee coached athlete who had been caught. I can name a Salazar athlete and a Schumaker athlete. So why does practically every American top ten distance runner of all time get a pass?
According to a poster earlier in the thread FloJo was caught by the authorities but given a pass if she agreed to retire at the end of that season, which she did.
We have long said at LetsRun that we believe letting people debate doping rumors leads to a cleaner sport.
Then why are so many Addy Wiley posts being deleted? Why is she being protected? Is she more important than a "cleaner sport"?
Not just Wiley. Up until just recently all remotely negative posts about Norris have always been immediately deleted. Either the mod doing it was let go or they finally realized there is zero reason for the deleting. Same I’m sure will be the case eventually for Wiley.

I am interested in knowing at what point she started doping. She was exceptionally good from the very beginning and her progress has been steady and predictable. She qualified for the U.S. Jr team at age 14; she made the U.S. Olympic team at age 16 and own most of the top-10 performances for high school, college, world juniors and seniors. She is doing exactly what was anticipated. Your friend who says she looks manly needs to get their eyes checked; Sydney looks strong and fit as would be expected for world class athlete - With all of that said, again, I ask at what point did she started doping.
