This is the worst response here. So you're argument is that the track is for working out, and thats your domain. And you don't care - tough, as you say. So that's different than someone who works out around town......... which would be their domain.... and if they say tough..?
Go home.
The town is for all sorts of people who are engaged in all sorts of activities. Some of these people may not want to look at shirtless people, and in my opinion they shouldn't have to. It's a matter of simple politeness. Not hard to understand. Yes, you can run around town shirtless without breaking any laws, but in my opinion it's heedless and a little rude.
The town is not the same thing as a track, which is for one activity: running. Runners get hot. Sometimes they take off their shirts. I think society understands and accepts shirtless runners at a track. Of course, if the runners are out of shape and look unappealing, I'd argue it's a faux pas for people like that to run shirtless even at the track, and if I were them I wouldn't do it. But at least it's more socially acceptable.
Clearly you are looking for a quarrel and refusing to accept the reasonableness of what I am saying.
Most people around town dress and look even more unappealing than than the worst looking shirtless runner.
We don't ask them to dress differently or stay inside.
It's a culture thing. Growing up in Socal I ran constantly shirtless. NBD. When I moved to Washington State it seemed odd not to be covered up; felt out-of-place.
I think she was being teased more than anything else. I knew who the people were...some fellow runners:)
covering your mouth will be like covering your nipples in 5 years

For me, that is shirtless 99.9% of the time. I hate the feeling of something hanging off me so it's either a tighter fitting shirt or shirtless. I feel like more of a dumbA wearing my trisuit singlet coming off a brick workout than I do running shirtless.
Who gives a flying F what others think? If they are judging you, that is their problem, not yours. We don't wear shirts at the pool, the beach, the lake, etc so why does it matter on a run? If someone gets offended by the sight of a male chest or a female with a sports bra, they can jump right back to the 1910's for all I care.
For people who are against runners going shirtless, I hope you realize that the time people spent watching/looking at naked people around the pool, beach or lake is prob more than enough than they would ever get to look at shirtless runners passing by. How long does it take for a shirtless runner to pass by people? like 10-30secs maybe? and yet people are still complaining about looking at shirtless runners?
Yeah, I feel weird if I'm running shirtless in less than 5'' shorts. Basically feels like i'm trotting around in my underwear. So I'll usually go shirtless with my 7'' running shorts and a hat ( I feel like I need at least something up there!)

I'm not looking for a quarrel, you just suck at arguing.
Nothing you said is "reasonable," and I honestly feel bad that you're that insecure with yourself. Society doesn't think about how a runner should look on the track vs around town lol. Most of society doesn't even know the difference between running around a track and running around town, let alone how runners should dress in either environment.
It's weird you've thought this much about it, honestly.

Hahahaha "Blame Canada" great username
Always shirtless, I can sweat through a shirt within minutes.
I ran shirtless and Nike half tights this morning... best combo ever...
Running shirtless isn't the coolest option in the sun.
I cut the sleeves off the free race T-shirts, and cut the bottom to waist level. Keeps the sun off my shoulders, allows air flow from below, and wicks to sweat so it can evaporate. And by using a light/bright color, better visibility for cars when I'm on the road.
It's the best option. Costs nothing.

ran this morning - 74 - 77 degrees and 96% humidity. Nothing will ever evaporate in those conditions
42 yrs old Lost 22 pounds down to 161. Do 5000 push-ups a week and 7 hours of abs a week. Darn straight I’m going shirtless in the heat. It’s been years since I could take shirt off at the pool without embarrassment.
Do everyone a favour and don't run shirtless if you're fat or have the emaciated body of a distance runner.

An hour of abs a day? A bit of an overkill?
Great you lost some weight but hope you realize it’s easier to have your abs show from being a lower bf than work specific muscle group hoping you don’t store fat there.
That being said...ran shirtless today. 85 degrees felt like 92 with humidity

I’m experimenting on a variation of the Herschel Walker workout.
The hour a day includes rest. Planks with rest take up 25 minutes themselves. I darn near killed myself with my destructive health habits. Trying to get my life back in order.
It took 3 months to build up to volume I’m at now.
Got my first 10 miler in over 5 years today. 3 months ago couldn’t run a sub 8 mile.

Oh, sure. And you're probably Borat and instead of split shorts you run in your green mankini
