"10 years later ran a 49.49?" That's a 50 year old running a 49.49? It would not only raise eyebrows but, IMO, be very suspicious. A 49.49 for a 50 yr old age-grades to 100% + which is WR level! In addition, that time age-grades to an open time of 43.15!
https://www.usatfmasters.org/fa_agegrading.htmRight. Well, maybe 1% isn't possible for me. Maybe just 1 second slower, which is closer to 2%. I guess I was just wondering how hard one can train and not slow down from 40 to 50. Maybe some untapped potential? Will see how it goes. A 56.42 at age 50 isn't going to get me anywhere, probably would be lucky to qualify for a US national final. If I did just slow a second though over 10 years, I'd be pretty darn happy about it. the goal would be to use that speed to move back up to the 800m.
To put it in perspective, a time of 43.15 would currently be 2nd all-time fastest behind WVN's WR record and just of ahead of MJ's all-time fastest & former WR time of 43.18! ?
