This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
What are they donating to? A gofundme page that has no transparency. The whole point of using gofundme instead of justgiving or similar is that the money doesn’t have to go direct to the charity. So presumably some of it is being used for the (massive) operational costs. Anyone who would donate to this without that sort of transparency is frankly a mug.
How could you possibly read the comments PK has made in this thread about the run and actually believe he is pals with RB or WG? That's just dumb. Try reading what he said instead of spending your time parroting everything WC says without question.
There are recon pictures of PK and RB recently leaving a buffet together. I can have the person post them if you need evidence.
Judging by the rest of this thread I don't think you'd know what "evidence" was if it took you out to dinner and invited you back for coffee.

I'd love to hear your definition of "evidence".
I remember the Rossi thread, the guy so obviously cheated, and he sure demanded "evidence" too; as though the only way to prove anything in this world is with several eye witnesses with video. But, what's more important is that this isn't a court room and there is no criminal standard - people are allowed to look at this situation and decide for themselves that it looks suspect as hell. I am allowed to think Goodge is a fraud, and if he doesn't want to satisfy me otherwise, he's allowed to do that, but I'll just carry on thinking he's a fraud. I suspect that's all part of being successful at a fraud, knowing that you don't need to fool everyone.

Correct. If Goodge, crew and sponsors truly wanted money to go to cancer research, they simply would’ve dumped all the money and resources they put into this venture straight into a cancer donation and forget about walking across America.

This is why I tend not to raise money when going for a "record" of any sort. I think it muddies the water. I did raise money in a pedestrian manner when I ran across Iowa a number of years ago, but it was maybe a couple hundred bucks. I quickly realized then that I would never raise much money that way, being rather grassroots. Of course, it was a very simple run, so I didn't use any of the whopping $200 I raised to cover costs.
I would personally much rather see a runner direct funds towards an independent website, rather than their own, to donate funds. Especially in this case, where there seems to be plenty of corporate sponsorship. It's perfectly fine to raise awareness/quietly pressure others to donate, but when there isn't transparency, that becomes a problem.
Almost 50 pages of nothing more than bad heart rate data. It just isn’t enough to declare he is cheating. I haven’t seen a single plausible explanation for how he is cheating. The rest of the data including cadence looks right. Maybe he is taking a beta blocker at lunch. Or more likely he is doing something like wearing the watch over clothing or too loose the second part of the run.
What makes it doubly funny is that he’s hawking a product that is purported to do exactly what is happening. This is actually the best possible advertisement NuCalm could ask for. “It works so well people will think you must be cheating”.

I know most trolls on here (boogerjohnson really) have started some, albeit hilarious, storyline of me and RB walking out of a buffet together. That being said, I just spoke to RB (ahahaha!) on the phone, and had an honest conversation about my opinion of the coverage of WillC on their latest youtube episode (as much as I despise WillC, I thought it was not in the spirit of running across the USA). Anyway, I had brought up fundraising, and he confirmed that they are directing all funds to charity, and not accepting anything from gofundme to cover costs of producing the run. It was one thing I know many other transcon runners have seemed to sneak around, so I’m happy to confirm that. I’ll hold them to it to show the accountability at the end, of course, but this run sounds to be otherwise funded in advance.
That’s really good to hear. Thanks for checking that out. They should really make that clear as the natural assumption is that it isn’t if you’re using gofundme. One of several mistakes they’ve made, like not checking what the actual ‘Englishman’s record’ was first before commissioning the van artwork. You have been the best voice of experience and reason in this debate, Pete. Totally agree there is nothing exceptional about this, having done several 50+ multidays myself and, though the hr data looks odd, it is far more likely that it is from measuring off a wrist than some nefarious scheme (which nobody has given a plausible suggestion for how they could be cheating anyway!)
