Distance coaching is definitely not easier, the PC answer is all coaching is difficult. But having had experience in track and field, you really do not want to go down this rabbit hole, you have already offended 90% of the track world with your dumb post. When it comes to the complexities of event training you should move on.

This came up on the jobs thread and I'm curious what the general consensus is. Please don't make this a racial thing. Every race competes in every events. Try to keep it about event groups.
Also sprints are more talent, while for distance talent makes up less of the equation. Also having to train people to perform in xc (long) and then track (sometimes long, sometimes short) is also a challenge. Not to mention trying to allow recovery time with virtually no off season. But recruiting for speed/ power is harder because the talent portion makes up a bigger piece of the pie and they often do other sports- while lots (not all) of distance kids well, lets just say they run distance for a reason…
Imagine going to a team who won regionals 24x since 1980 and not being able to recruit enough guys to field a team for next September? Good reason to quit after 2 years lol half your guys graduated and other half quit. #coachoftheyear
