Distance coaching is just flat out harder. You have more athletes usually and an entire third season to coach. Speed and power events like to act like they're special because they discuss whether or not to drag their toe out of the blocks.
Stop it. All track and field coaching is difficult. The craft of coaching just requires grit and hardwork. Let's not take shots at each other mutual respect is needed.

Agreed. Speed and power events just emphasis technique every now and then. They don’t work hard. But real coaching is holding a stopwatch and talking about VO2 max. And with all those athletes and trying to get all their paces down for their runs, it’s nearly impossible. They’re the only coaches who deserve respect honestly.

Good. Those comments should get deleted. The only people on this board who deserve any respect are the non minority distance coaches cause their programs are the only ones that matter and they’re the only ones who get their jobs based on merit. Stop it plenty of white males and females have gotten positions because of who they knew and not their performance. That's the case in the coaching world. A lot coaches and administrators like to hire people they know and trust. We just saw a guy with no experience get an assistant position at Colorado his experience wasn't the factor but I bet his personal relationship and loyalty was key. Let's not be prejudice or start a racially charged conversation. We are better than that.

It's kind of telling you made this about race when I was specifically talking about event groups. Kind of weird to do that.

You must be new to this board, we are not better than that.

I can tell you are very butthurt about this.
yes I am. There are too many speed and power coaches who think their programs deserve respect. Distance is the way to go and the only way you’ll get respect on this board.

You must also be new here. That’s all this board does whenever a minority candidate is hired or whenever a non distance coach gets a head coaching job.

Back to the original topic. I agree with you. Everything about distance is more difficult. Running distance is harder and so is coaching distance. Distance athletes and coaches are the only ones who deserve to act like they’re special.

Nah, only you did that today. This was about event groups specifically. Not candidates, race, jobs, nothing else. Don't insert your own issues into this. Maybe take a deep breath to yourself and ask, "am I the problem?"

I can’t be the problem, I love all things distance. Let’s try and stay on topic and focus on jobs.
Distance coaching is definitely not easier, the PC answer is all coaching is difficult. But having had experience in track and field, you really do not want to go down this rabbit hole, you have already offended 90% of the track world with your dumb post. When it comes to the complexities of event training you should move on.
