The way he could run the second half of a race, you got to think he would have been 45+ seconds up on Tola.

61:35 on the back half for Tola. Holy smokes.
He got his comeuppance for dopinga these years. Age doesn’t even begin to explain how he dropped out as Bekele is 3 years older yet still ran 2:12 and finished the race. The thing that explains seems to be that kipchoge felt contrite about his doping and stopped doing it since 2023 Berlin when he won in 2:02. We then see his true physical fitness without drugs in 2024 and 2023 Boston too.
It would be interesting to see the mile splits especially the uphill and downhill sections
After some probably justified criticism for underperforming abroad and in championship marathons Japan had a great day; first nation to have all 3 of their athletes finish
Akira Akasaki - 6th - 2:07:32 (significant PB down from 2:09:01)
Suguru Osako - 13th - 2:09:25
Naoki Koyama - 23th - 2:10:33
I think Valentin Betoudji of Chad will be the final finisher. No one left besides Nageeye has registered a 40km split and Nageeye could have walked the last 2km and finished by now.
As I am typing Bat-Ochir just went through 40km. He might jog it in still!
Would be a nice touch if Tola does a Kiptum tribute on the rostrum
Wow crazy and with that Wanjiru's OR is history
LOLOL, that was pretty good. Now I've got an image of them at the finish changing into crisp white button down shirts with ties as soon as they've finished. ;-)

CBC feed is showing Nageeye stepping off the course with medical help right now
Here comes Bat-Ochir leading the vehicle caravan!

The olympics should give an additional medal to the country with the lowest combined finishing time
Dathan and Ryan Hall were 9 and 10 in Beijing.
So Mantz and Young were one better each.
And Bat-Ochir finishes the race! Time for me to go to bed lol
Hats off to Bat-Ochir finishing. Legend
