That race was pretty unecessary as far as the US team goes due to only 3 of them having the olympic standard, and the weather preventing a real sub 27 attempt. I hope that doesn't interfere with Fisher's training as he can contend for a medal at the real games.
Also Drew Hunter should try to run the standard this summer, looks like he is capable.
He just said "this was the team I wanted, these are the 3 best guys" or something like that. Which by itself is fine I guess, just an odd thing to say when you only get one sentence after making an Olympic team. Especially when Hunter ran a hell of a race to come 4th, and Klecker was hurt and couldn't race.
I'd give him a pass if he hadn't said stupid things in the past.
I don’t see anything super wrong with what he said. I understand why people might find that odd with Hunter’s career race and Kincaid’s history of odd comments, but I don’t really see what he said as something meant to take a stab at anybody. To me it just felt like a proud in-the-moment kind of statement, especially since the top 3 are all sub 27 athletes.
I didn't think his comment was that offensive. The top three have the standard, which is usually the best outcome for sending the best team.
Live splits show Grant was roughly 3:00 for last 1200 which wasn’t as mind-bending as I thought, but it was a hot day and a tough race. Congrats to the top 3 and Drew Hunter showed his stuff today🗣️
Couldn't tell a whole lot about Grant's shape here. Looked easy, which is a good sign, but Grant would have had to close that race in 53 to be in medalist shape. Maybe he could have here. Maybe not. We'll find out, but it looked encouraging.
I saw some people being pessimistic about how these guys will do in Paris, I don't think it'll be a talent issue for Fisher, it just seems like his main focus is the 5000. He ran the 10000 once last year and ran 28:25.81.
Valby: Authentic and compelling physical struggle to excel Morgan: Same ESP: Not so much, aka none at all Schweizer: A bit better than ESP but not by much Cranny: Now Cranny is interesting. Authentic and compelling...person...but something seems a little off.
Hocker is overrated, his kick does nothing for him at the world stage.
The world stage is partially always fast now because in shape hocker can win any 1500m over 3:35, people like Jakob and Kerr arent idiots, they know how fast he can close a slower race and even if they could still eke out a win if the opening 800 is 1:59, its not worth the risk.

I can think of one over 3:35 1500 he couldn't win.

Lol. Imagine thinking Jakob makes it fast because of Cole Hocker.
I’m as big a fan of Hocker as they come, but this is just ridiculous for about 6 reasons, 2 of them being that Jakob would still wreck Hocker in a 335+ race, and Jakob (and others) have been pushing 1500s since well before Hocker was even on the scene.

On Tuohy, I've felt this ever since I first saw her run in hs. If you watch her in a pack and so can easily compare her style to others, although I wouldn't really call this a style point or choice, it seems to be just how her body works, but compared to just about all other runners, the combined unit comprised of her shoulders, neck and head seems quite stiff and rigid. There's no bobble of the head or shock absorber like function of the neck and shoulder muscles. As other runners shift from foot to foot being in contact with the ground, the muscles in this entire area wax and wane, keeping the head loose, relaxed and mobile, and shifting in position as the upward force from striking the ground comes at different angles. But Tuohy doesn't seem to have this bobble-shock absorbing capacity. It just looks like it can't have a good effect and is physically stressful on her neck and head.

LOL... Valby kept looking at the crowd ever time someone yelled and then smiled and made some quizzical gesture at them on the second lap... didn't look very focused to me.
yeah woody just can't help making an ass of himself every time a mic is put in front of him.
This is horsesh!t. All Woody does is deliver. To me, he seems like a good guy and a great competitor. His backstory is great. I don't understand all the people who want to pick something to criticize about him every time he runs a race. The guy came out of relative obscurity to become an Olympian 3x over, and all some people can do is complain about nonexistent crap.
