He's not even the first person this year to have had a transfer of allegiance, previous EPO ban, and win a USA National Title.

Rojo Should Alberto be stripped of his citizenship for being a drug cheat?

I just came across the results for the 2020 US 15k Champs from the weekend at Gate River and was disturbed to see that the winner of the $12,000 was ex-Moroccan Ridouane Harroufi, who was banned from the sport for two years for EPO in 2013. Apparently, as of late February, he's now eligible to run for the US.
Can someone tell me why in the world would we grant citizenship to an EPO cheat? There are literally BILLIONS of people that would instantly accept US citizenship if we offered it to them. Why in the hell would we grant citizenship to a guy who tested positive for EPO?
Isn't there some sort of morals clause in citizenship applications?
Or can anyone get it? I wish this was a joke.
Does anyone know when he got his citizenship? I'm virtually certain it was after his EPO positive.
Can one's citizenship possibly be stripped for something like this - like maybe he didn't disclose it on the application?
Yes, he's said some great things about the country and how it's the greatest on earth and his kids were born here but it seems unreal that we have people like Cheserek trying to get citizenship and we give it to this guy. Yes, it would be very hard to be a pro runner, poor and in need of some cash to support the family. So I get why someone would take EPO, but it seems to me that should be a DQ for citizenship.
Any citizenship experts on here?

This is the fault of the USATF. They should have a rule that anyone ever banned for EPO cannot win USATF prize money.
Can’t blame the guy for getting citizenship here. I spent a month in the non tourist areas of Morocco and it’s a pit.

Who were the “other pros” he learned from in Flag? Was that ever determined?
A rich vein of form.

Just go back and look who the pros were training there at that time. You’ll see what I mean.
Because athletic performance (the reason why anyone would get tested for EPO) is NOT a requirement for citizenship unless you want to go the Aryan way and make athletic performance a citizenship requirement which will require ( I believe) a constitutional amendment and that’s not gonna happen.
Are you sure you completed college or bought your diploma?
I don't think anybody has charged him with any crimes. You do realize that millions of Americans use prescription drugs without a prescription?
It's quite simple really: it's not a crime.
You can argue for making EPO usage a crime and start putting athletes in jail. Then the applicant would have to check the box that says if they've committed a crime.
Denying citizenship for things you don't like is at best silly, and at worst .. well, you know
This country was built on lying, cheating, and stealing, so he fits in perfectly.

1. Because no one cares about running.
2. Because this country doesn't have a moral compass anymore, either. If we not only allow investment banking, but bail them out when their own machinations destroy the global economy ... what's a little EPO?

Agreed. I would also add that there are likely a lot of other top-tier distance runners using EPO or other PEDs and they will not get caught for various reasons. The testing system is so poor (in a large part due to the politics in the sport) that I almost feel sorry for the people who actually are getting caught which is ridiculous I know.

That's why despite all the criticism people have against it, I love LRC. You get to learn from really amazing people. Just look at this guy's thought. Simple and solid. Should be /endthread
